LSU Cain Department of Chemical Engineering PhD student Monsuru DAUDA has authored 7 papers this year, including 2 as primary author, the latest being a piece in the Journal of the Electrochemical Society. The work details Dauda and his co-authors' work on developing a method to utilize captured CO2 from fermentation or petrochemical processes, along with water, to produce ethanol. #WBTTW https://lnkd.in/grauJkfZ

LSU Computer Science Professor Nash Mahmoud has created an app called Professor Index, which is set to transform how college students evaluate and select professors and courses. Since its launch in March 2024 with help from the LSU Innovation and Technology Commercialization, Professor Index has been downloaded more than 13,000 times, has onboarded 17 major universities, and has accumulated more than 2,300 reviews. #WBTTW https://lnkd.in/gv_mr7cs

Today, we're announcing that in early 2025, the LSU College of Engineering, in collaboration with Halliburton and ExxonMobil, will begin drilling a third research well at our PERTT Lab on LSU’s campus. This new, one-of-its-kind well will enable students, researchers, regulators, and industry to study CO2 in all three of its phases under realistic field conditions. The well will not be operational and will not inject any CO2 into the subsurface. The well will be solely used for research purposes and is expected to have significant research value. LSU Computer Science Chair and Professor Ibrahim (Abe) Baggili recently received a competitive $400,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) SaTC CORE program to advance digital forensics techniques around AI. AI is widely used on a daily basis, whether it’s asking Alexa or nighttime with Netflix. But what happens if there are failures within the AI, and how are they investigated properly?
