Part of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business, the Department of Accounting endeavors to produce graduates on every level who excel in their pursuits. We prepare students for careers in public accounting, industry, and government through required and elective courses in financial accounting, cost, audit, taxation, and internal audit. A key element of our department’s success is our outstanding faculty, which publishes articles in top academic and professional journals and writes textbooks and trade books. Additionally, our faculty members are active participants in the accounting profession. We offer a Bachelor of Science in accounting, a minor in internal audit, Master of Accountancy, and PhD in accounting.

Helen Alford, MBA | BS Accounting ’22, MBA ’23 Nathan McDavid, CPA | BS Accounting ’21, MAcc ’22 Helen and Nathan's journey began during an accounting internship in 2020, but their paths had crossed earlier at LSU, where both majored in accounting and shared classes. They have created many special memories together, including Nathan being the LSU mascot and Helen being a member of the Tiger Band. On May 19, 2024, Nathan proposed on the field at Tiger Stadium. Sydney Melder | BS Accounting ’23, MAcc ’24 Garrett Lonsberry | BS Accounting ’23, MAcc ’24 Sydney and Garrett met during a study abroad trip to Costa Rica as part of their Master of Accountancy program. They graduated last May and subsequently moved to Denver. Garrett is now working in the audit sector at Deloitte, while Sydney is employed as a consultant for a software company. #OURsoLoveStory LSU Department of Accounting
