The Louisville Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is proud to be among the more than 575 professional SHRM chapters. The Louisville Personnel Association, as LSHRM was first called, was founded in 1940. The organization's name was changed to the Louisville Society for Human Resource Management (LSHRM) on July 1, 1992. LSHRM is committed to excellence in the practice of human resource management and is Kentucky's largest professional human resources organization with more than 500 members; LSHRM is also affiliated with local student chapters. Chapter members are encouraged to join the national organization of SHRM, but national membership is not a requirement for Chapter participation.

  • The Louisville Society for Human Resource Management (LSHRM) is proud to spotlight LaDaya "Kami" Owens, our dedicated Director of College Relations & Emerging Professionals. A dynamic HR leader, Kami brings a wealth of experience and passion for fostering the next generation of HR professionals. A Rising Star in HR Kami has been named one of three finalists for HR.com's Emerging HR Professional of the Year award! This prestigious recognition highlights her exceptional contributions to the HR field, and the winner will be announced at HRWest Conference in March in Oakland, California. Background & Expertise With over 10 years of HR leadership experience spanning nonprofit, corporate, and workforce development sectors, Kami has built a career centered on talent acquisition, leadership development, and community engagement. She holds an MBA in International Business from Campbellsville University. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at Bellarmine University, where her research focuses on Cultural Competency in HR. Contributions & Achievements Kami’s impact extends beyond her leadership role at LSHRM. She has been recognized as: A Louisville Business First Forty Under 40 honoree (2023) A Young Professionals Association of Louisville Award Winner (2024) A Bellarmine University Women in Leadership Graduate Leader Award recipient (2024) She has also taken the stage as a thought leader and speaker, presenting at the 39th KYSHRM Conference and various university events on the importance of cultural competency in the workplace. Passion for Talent Development As LSHRM’s Director of College Relations & Emerging Professionals, Kami is committed to strengthening connections between HR professionals and students. Her initiatives focus on mentorship, networking, and career development opportunities to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world HR experiences. Currently, Kami works at the Home of the Innocents as a Human Resources Business Partner. Looking Ahead Kami’s influence in the HR community continues to grow, and LSHRM is thrilled to have her leading efforts to cultivate the next generation of HR leaders.
