This year we are celebrating Women's History Month with a huge milestone! LRS is officially certified as a women-owned business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)! ?? As of 2025, LRS has reached 68% women in ownership, a number that has fluctuated annually but seen a steady increase over the last 20+ years. Our current firm President, Managing Principal Trish Nixon, paved the way as the first female principal in 2003, and LRS reached majority-women-in-ownership for the first time in 2021. As the largest women-owned architecture firm in the Pacific Northwest, we are committed to fostering a supportive, enriching environment where staff members of all backgrounds and identities have opportunities to lead, rise, and succeed. This winter, the LRS Design Lab brought “Hi-Diddly-Ho Neighborino!” to the Portland Winter Light Festival, inspired by this year’s theme, "A Light for Tomorrow." Our interactive light sculpture features curving projection screens that make visitors' silhouettes visible from both sides, encouraging interaction between those inside and around the sculpture. ?? We had fun experimenting with AI tools in the design process, sparking creativity and innovation. Big thanks to our collaborators Mortenson, Harry L Stearns, EC Electric, JH Kelly, LLC, and UFP Industries for helping bring this engaging installation to life for 200,000+ visitors!
