Founded in 1970, Lowell Community Health Center serves 50,000 people from Greater Lowell. Our mission is to provide caring, quality, and culturally competent health services to the people of Greater Lowell, regardless of their financial status; to reduce health disparities and enhance the health of the Greater Lowell community; and to empower each individual to maximize their overall well-being. No patient is denied health care services because of the inability to pay. We derive 76% of our income through insurance reimbursements and other feesl, raising the rest through grants and gifts from generous donors ? More than 90% of Lowell CHC patients are low income, and 46% are best served in a language other than English. ? Since opening our new comprehensive facility in a renovated mill on Jackson Street in 2012, more than 15,000 additional patients have turned to Lowell CHC for a full range of primary care, including OB-GYN and behavioral health services for adults and children,, averaging over 600 visits per day. ? We also have a Pharmacy serving health center patients and others in the community. lab and radiology services onsite through Lowell General Hospital, and now offer eye care and dental services. This #WelcomingWeek2024, we honor leaders who advocate on behalf of refugees and immigrants and create safe spaces for them to belong. As the daughter of working-class Haitian immigrants, Boston City Council President Ruthzee Louijeune has demonstrated unwavering commitment to serving her community and tackling issues impacting immigrants and new arrivals. We are thankful for her support and for speaking to our clients on World Refugee Day and sharing her own family’s story. Recently inducted to the Lowell 100, a group of leaders who have made significant contributions to the city’s immigrant communities, SIDNEY L. Liang, MPA, CHW, Lowell Community Health Center's Metta Health Center Senior Director has demonstrated incredible commitment to refugees and immigrants. Liang, one of the many Cambodian refugees who arrived in Lowell to escape the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s and 1980s, has dedicated his career to providing health care to refugees and immigrants living in the Greater Lowell area. We thank him for his dedication. Originally from Fatundu, a small town in province of Bandundu, Democratic Republic of Congo, Founder and CEO of Victory Women of Vision Mary Ngwanda Georges has built her career empowering refugees and immigrant families. We thank Georges and Victory Women of Vision for being an incredible partner, assisting refugees with case management support, medical appointments, and domestic violence referrals and counseling.
