This beautiful big boy is terrified at the shelter. He’s a tall gorgeous drink of water. When I approached the kennel he got up and went to the other side of the kennel while keeping an eye on me curiously. He tasted some treats I tossed to him. I went around to the other side and he backed up in the kennel. He never made a peep at me and sniffed treats from my hand. He let me give him a few pets and poor buddy was just shaking. I wanted to give him a big hug. He’s just so terrified in the loud shelter environment I didn’t try and leash him. ?? Please contact BARC if you are local and can help! Milli approached the kennel door with a wiggly little butt excited to say hello to me. She avoided being leashed in the kennel but once she poked her body out almost into my lap she was fine with me putting a leash around her neck. I think the loud barking was making her nervous. She sniffed a much larger dog down the run without issue. She walked well on the leash with a little bit on a mission so I took her out in the hallway so it’d be a little quieter for her. She let both me and staff give her lots of pets. She was a bit wide eyed when I first went to pick her up so I went to get a towel just in case and went super slow. She gave a little bit of “I can be spicy vibes” (on par with being a little) but she was ok with me picking her up, I just didn’t move too fast. She’s a cute little cocker spaniel chi something mix? I heard that she did not do well with young children nor a small senior dog in her previous home ??Behavior (Returned for snapping at child and reactive towards other dogs.) ?? Friendly Joji was my favorite walk of the day. Not only is he absolutely gorgeous with his bright blue eyes, he walks in heel right next to your leg and checks in frequently. He also seems dog social - i walked by with several other scared pups who stopped to greet him through the kennel and he calmly sniffed each of them and showed no tense body language. He was quiet in his kennel but clearly stressed - please give this good boy a chance and consider adopting or fostering him. He's very affectionate and a big sweetie ???? ?? Volunteer 1: Another already volunteer met Haley but I had to take her out! She was waiting at her kennel door all wiggly and happy. I took her into the photo room and she was so happy to just relax and sprawl out. She knows sit and was very treat motivated. When I was making notes on my phone she sat nicely next to me watching me. It was adorable! She laid down and gave me her belly which I’m a sucker for. She walks nice on leash and takes treats gently. She’s such a good girl and she’s been at BARC for a while. I hope someone saves her soon! She’s honestly really amazing. Volunteer 2: Haley is beautiful, treat motivated and knows sit. She seems potty trained as she went potty as soon as I brought her out. She’s definitely had lots of babies in her lifetime according to her boobies. I didn’t see any milk coming out so I’m not sure how long ago her last litter was, but she let me feel all over her and was content as could be. She has extra dew claws and could be a pointer, Pyrenees mix maybe even border collie, but her energy level was perfect!
