As this office develops a strategic plan for our state, we know this work is about families and farmers alike; about county boards of services working with trauma-informed and networked community organizations; about schools, healthcare, community fridge operators, residents and policy makers all speaking one language and sharing a broader view of food security. There are inspired and unprecedented levels of collaboration happening to help New Jerseyans prevent needing emergency assistance, and if they do need it in a time of crisis, to experience available aid in holistic ways that are free of stigma, and honor their dignity and agency to still know what is best for themselves and their families. More than 22 million kids in the U.S. rely on school meals during the year. During the summer months, when school is out of session and school meals are no longer available, food banks step in with programming to help get nutritious food to children during summer. Loving Our Cities meets this needs through KIDflix, a FREE series of G and PG-rated summer movies and meals for kids 18 and under! All participating children will be provided with a week’s worth of “grab & go” meals. Since joining forces with the Food Bank of South Jersey to bring the FIRST Hope Mobile to neighbors in Winslow Township in 2014, Loving Our Cities, volunteers, partners, donors, neighbors, and friends like you, have distributed food to nearly 40,000 men, women, and children!
