Walking into the Graven’s Conference two weeks ago where providers, parents, support staff, and companies all came together to discuss how we do better renewed something in me. ? We all have a voice AND we need spaces like Graven’s that equal the playfield and create space for the conversations to happen. For the last 13 years I have spent my life serving families in the Neonatal ICU. It has been the honor of a lifetime to share this space with families and their care teams. ?? As a NICU parent and professional, it is encouraging to connect with people in the NICu space sharing ideas openly, thinking together about implementation and processes that can drive change, all while being fiercely committed to family-centered care, parent’s rights and better outcomes. At Love for Lily ?? we are committed to easing the challenges of parents and care teams while also looking at the system in which we function. We are exploring how parents voices ?? can be engaged at every level and together how we can create change sustainably and in partnership: parents, hospital, and state. We are committed to fostering collaboration between families and the care team to support better outcomes for babies AND families. I am grateful through and through for our partners, friends & mentors that gave us such a warm welcome. Prolacta Bioscience, Caring Essentials Collaborative, LLC, National Perinatal Association, Nurtured by Design, Inc. and so many of our incredible hospital partners. We made new connections and friends AngelEye Health, Dr?ger and so many more. I am beyond grateful for the time I spent with the Family-Centered Care Taskforce and the incredible leadership team (more exciting new on this front soon). Connecting with fellow executive directors and NICU parents, sharing and successes and challenges was a highlight. Jessi Barnes, MSN, RN, RNC-NIC, NPD-BC, C-ELBW & Morgan Kowalski thank you for always making a welcoming space and sharing your hearts. Gravens was an opportunity to learn, reflect and grow. In February, we got together with LITTLE LAMBS OF HOPE INC, an amazing organization here in Colorado also working to empower and support families of medically fragile infants. We’re excited to work together to increase both of our impacts.?We’ll now be including their children’s book,?Mighty Tiny, in our Essentials Bags! Mighty Tiny?honors medically fragile infants. The story can be used to help siblings of those infants better understand the NICU experience and give them hope for the day their tiny brother or sister gets to come home. #NICU #SpreadHope

Navigating the NICU comes with immense stress: parents have to leave their baby behind in the hospital and sometimes wait weeks just to hold their fragile infant, all while having to make life or death decisions. Love for Lily began it's work so that nobody would have to walk the NICU alone. Our comprehensive support for NICU families includes group sessions (virtual and in-unit) and one-on-one coaching with a trained professional. These services are available both during your baby’s hospital stay and after discharge, all at no cost to participants. Updates from the GRAVENS conference! Sahra Cahoon has had the opportunity to meet with so many people doing incredible work and is learning so much. We can’t wait to share more about the conference later! Highlights so far have included: Dinner with AngelEye Health, joined by an amazing group of people working to improve the NICU experience. Meeting with Mary Coughlin MS, NNP, NCC-E, Caritas Coach? (one of Sahra’s heros!) and the incredible Nicole Nyberg, MSN, APRN, NNP-BC, founder of Empowering NICU Parents.
