As part of our school-wide deep dive into Black History Month, our Lower Elementary students explored the lives of influential Black leaders, past and present. They read inspiring stories, created mini books highlighting character traits, and collaborated on a colorful class mural featuring these important figures. Our 6th graders took an exciting step toward global leadership with a visit to the United Nations! In preparation for Montessori Model UN, they have spent months researching policies, studying global issues, and working collaboratively to represent their assigned country with confidence and diplomacy. Soon, they will take the stage as delegates, debating real-world topics, advocating for solutions, and speaking on behalf of their nations. We were thrilled to welcome the Center for Environmental Education & Discovery (CEED) to campus for an unforgettable experience! Award-winning author Elizabeth Shreeve shared the fascinating writing, research, and design process behind her non-fiction book, The Upside-Down Book of Sloths. Ranger Eric amazed our students with live animal ambassadors from around the world! From insects to rainforest creatures, students from PreK-6th explored how physical, metabolic, behavioral, and social adaptations help animals survive in their native habitats.
