This past week, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) held a training course for #LDAF’s Weights and Measures inspectors from across the state. It was a fantastic opportunity to enhance our skills and ensure accuracy in measurement standards. We look forward to applying what we’ve learned to better serve our communities!

Yesterday, the Louisiana Egg Commission and Louisiana Dairy Industry Promotion Board attended the first Field Trip Day at Rapides Parish Fair. Students in 3rd to 8th grade from surrounding areas came to learn about all things Ag! Through multiple demonstrations and hands on stations, students learned about dairy production, planting crops, how chicks develop in eggs, and so much more. Thank you to Rapides Parish Fair Association and Rapides Parish 4-H for setting up this event.

LOUISIANA METRIC WEEK and NATIONAL METRIC DAY! The State of Louisiana has officially proclaimed the week of October 6 - 12, 2024, Metric Week! Metric Week is an annual event that falls on the week of October 10th (National Metric Day) since the metric system is based on powers of 10! This event brings awareness to and highlights the simplicity, precision, and global adoption of the metric system, which is widely used in science, medicine, and many industries. The system's structure, based on multiples of 10, makes it easy to learn, apply, and communicate universally. By embracing the metric system, we support international collaboration, consistency in trade, and advancements in technology. Join us in celebrating LA Metric Week and the system that unites us all! You can learn more about what #LDAF’s Weights and Measures division does in this video from National Weights and Measures Week: https://lnkd.in/dtb-7qYf #NationalMetricDay #MetricSystem #metricmeasurements #geometric #metricday #measurewithmetrics #MetricBenefits #precisionwithmetric #CelebrateMetric #MetricForAll #MetricIsEasy

#DYK? Livestock and pet feeds throughout Louisiana get tested for quality analysis by Inspectors with the?Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. You may sometimes see this piece of tape on your animal's feed bag. This is where the inspector takes the small sample of the product that will be sent to the testing lab to ensure the feed companies comply with the law. #LDAF pet food inspectors from the Office of Animal Health and Food Safety are out and about in the community checking the contents of animal feed for quality control and helping to keep your pets and livestock safe. #animalhealth #feedsafety #petfood #livestockfeed #workingforyou
