Earlier this month, we had a great time at the Natural Hazards Center workshop! This year's workshop theme on "Creative Strategies for Understanding and Communicating Disaster Risk" resonated - we loved the focus on Indigenous storytelling and seeing art & music incorporated into risk communication. The plenary by folks from Tempo on "Using Music to Communicate Risk and Drive Climate Action" was inspiring. And some of our favorite research came from Lioness: Justice Impacted Women’s Alliance and Texas A&M University’s collaboration on documenting the "Evacuation Experiences of Incarcerated Women in Disasters." Shoutout to Graphic Recording Studio for the gorgeous graphic recordings and to Kate McNeely for the amazing zines. Delighted to learn, meet new folks in the field, and connect with dear old colleagues.
