The Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) was formed in 1959 to promote a positive business climate for chemical manufacturing that ensures long-term economic growth for its 63 member companies that operate more than 100 sites throughout Louisiana. LCA, Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance and related organizations work to protect and expand Louisiana’s petrochemical manufacturing base. It is critical for the industry to have a unified voice in state governmental activities because legislative and regulatory actions can affect capital investment and job retention and growth. LCA is governed by a Board of Directors that consists of 17 member company representatives, primarily plant managers and divisional vice presidents. LCA has an experienced staff with expertise in the chemical industry, environmental, health, safety, security, governmental affairs, communications and association management.

Last week, we co-hosted our Hurricane Resilience and Process Safety Workshop with Alliance Safety Council, bringing together industry leaders and experts from American Chemistry Council, the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, API - American Petroleum Institute, CHEMTREC?, and BakerRisk to discuss vital strategies to enhance safety and preparedness within our industry during storm season. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the valuable discussions. Together, we are committed to ensuring our industry is well-prepared and resilient in the face of storms. Let’s continue to prioritize safety and readiness!
Yesterday, our Government Affairs team joined industry leaders for a collaborative meeting and plant tour at BASF with Congresswoman Julia Letlow, Ph.D. It was a great opportunity to discuss the future of Louisiana's chemical industry. Special thanks to Jerry Lebold from our board for his insightful remarks. Together we will work to strengthen our industry and our Louisiana community!

Last week LCA and Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association held our joint Governmental Affairs Post-Session Meeting. We heard from several key partners, including Will Green, President and CEO of Louisiana Association of Business and Industry; Emily Combs from American Chemistry Council; and Jason DeCuir, co-owner of Advantous Consulting. Additionally, Secretary Richard Nelson with the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Secretary Tyler Gray with the Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources addressed the group about their plans for their departments and Louisiana’s future. A special thank you to our Legislative Panel – Senator Eddie Lambert, Senator Ed Price, and Representative Neil Riser – for their invaluable insights. Your input is crucial as we work together to advance our industry and advocate for positive change in our communities!
Yesterday we attended a press conference at Denka to hear from the Office of Governor Jeff Landry, Attorney General Liz Murrill, and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Secretary Aurelia Skipwith Giacometto. We are pleased with the steps Governor Landry's administration is taking to defend Louisiana’s vital chemical industry and protect high-paying jobs in our community. We will continue our work together to find and implement practical solutions that protect both our community's health and our industry.
