Improving the quality of life for people who are blind by providing training, services, and employment.
关于我们
For more than 90 years, Louisiana Association for the Blind (LAB) has improved the quality of life for Louisianians who are blind or visually impaired by providing training, services, and employment. LAB's core values of respect for individual abilities, honesty, and integrity create an environment that encourages personal growth and independence. At LAB our focus is on a person's capabilities not disabilities. Excellence in all that we do is our goal. Quality is the end result: in products, in training, and in employment opportunities. LAB employs people who are blind in manufacturing, administrative, training and a variety of job positions that match an individual's goals and potential. The Javits-Wagner-O'Day Act (JWOD) allows LAB and other agencies employing the blind to secure contracts to provide products and services to the Federal government. The JWOD program helps to ensure steady, long-term employment for people who are blind. LAB is a member of the National Association for Employment of People Who are Blind (NAEPB) and affiliated with National Industries for the Blind (NIB). Additionally, LAB is licensed by the Department of Social Services and recognized by Louisiana Rehabilitation Services as a rehabilitative facility. Louisiana Association for the Blind (LAB) is an Equal Opportunity Employer. LAB does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other classification protected by Federal, state, or local law. LAB is a drug free work place. For more information about LAB, please visit www.lablind.com or call 1(877) 913-6471 or (318) 635-6471

?? Meet Audra, our Vice President of Community Services at Louisiana Association for the Blind (L.A.B.)! ?? Audra’s journey began in Shreveport, LA, but life’s adventures took her to Colorado Springs, CO, and Houston, TX, before bringing her back home. Alongside her husband Alan and their child Elias, plus their two four-legged friends, Walter and Smokey, Audra has a deep-rooted passion for education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration from LSU-Shreveport. Joining L.A.B. in 2015 as Community Development Manager, Audra handled fundraising and public relations with dedication. Now, as VP of Community Services, she ensures her team has the resources they need to provide top-notch services, training, and equipment to our clients. Her open-door policy, even in her windowless office, promotes open and honest dialogue, fostering a strong sense of teamwork. Audra’s most significant challenge was navigating the COVID-19 lockdown. Turning this challenge into an opportunity, she led her team through a swift transition to a hybrid services model, expanding our programs to include competitive employment opportunities, a state-of-the-art Assistive Technology program, and a low vision aids store. Audra feels strongly for those pursuing leadership positions to become comfortable with being uncomfortable; she believes personal and professional growth happen outside of your comfort zone and feels that work is an extension of herself. Her commitment to our mission and community reflects her core values. As Joseph Campbell said, "Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls." Thank you, Audra, for your incredible leadership and dedication! ??
