FUN FACT FRIDAY!!! ?? You truly never know WHO or WHAT you are going to encounter when doing site visits! On one of Miles Walz-Salvador adventures, he was tasked with visiting a mountain top site near Las Vegas, NV.?No rental cars would do the trick, and he wasn't finding an option for renting an offroad vehicle. He gave David Robinson, P.E. a call who suggested he head to the hardware store in the area and try to find a resident who would be willing to help him.?Miles being Miles, that's exactly what he did.?He started asking anyone he ran into if they by chance had an offroad vehicle they would be willing to use to get him up the mountain to his site.?To his surprise, one person agreed to help.?The man he found was quite the adrenaline seeker, driving nearly 75mph on the side of a mountain in a RAZR ATV. The man mentioned he was very excited for the opportunity due to his wife not allowing him to drive that fast. ?? Once the visit was completed, and again, to Miles' surprise, they made it back alive, they celebrated with monstrous Bloody Mary's at a local casino. What a trip!! ?

FUN FACT FRIDAY!!! This weeks fun fact Friday highlights our outstanding NEPA Compliance Support Assistant Stephanie Sperrazza! I bet you didn’t know that Stephanie is searching for Prohibition era bottles in her free time! Has she found any yet? Keeping reading and you’ll find out!!????♀??? ? Just as an archaeologist conducts research and searches for historic artifacts at a proposed site as part of NEPA due diligence, one of Lotis’ staff members embarks on her own casual explorations each summer while camping with her family in the Thousand Islands region. Stephanie searches for Prohibition-era bottles while snorkeling in and around the beautiful St. Lawrence River. Since the river narrowly divides the U.S. and Canada, it was a popular route for bootlegging between the two countries. Bootleggers, also known as "River Rats" in this region, would drop cases of liquor into the river if their boats were about to be inspected by authorities. It is said that bottles from that era still rest at the bottom of the river today. Stephanie has unfortunately not yet had any luck finding bottles from Prohibition times, but she has discovered a few old ones to keep—one of which is estimated to be from the 1940s! My first trip to New Orleans did not disappoint. While attending the extremely well organized Louisiana Wireless Association Mardi Gras event, I was able to explore the city, immerse myself in the Mardi Gras experience and connect with many other industry colleagues, new and familiar. It was an incredible experience that I am immensely thankful to have attended alongside my wonderful coworkers, Kelly & Miles at Lotis Environmental, LLC. Also, a huge shout out to Heidi, Nicole, and the others who worked so hard to put this event together. Laissez les bons temps rouler! FUN-FACT-FRIDAY!!! Did you know our NEPA/NHPA Specialist Abby McKay worked remotely during January and February of this year in HONDURAS and got her SCUBA CERTIFICATION?!?! While escaping her normal Washington winters, she stayed on the island of Roatan for the majority ofher trip but also got to explore the island of Utila for a weekend. While she was down there she got her Open Water, and Advanced Open Water Scuba certifications and spent a majority of her free time diving. During her time there she was able to indulge in the local cuisine, explore the island, learn about the local cultures, enjoy the slow island lifestyle, and see some incredible things - both above and below water!!!????♀?
