This week A-B Tech is kicking off National Apprenticeship Week by highlighting its HVAC program, which has grown from seven students to 22 in its second year. Observed November 17-23 this year, National Apprenticeship Week is a nationwide celebration that brings together business leaders, apprentices, labor, education institutions, and other critical partners to promote the value of Registered Apprenticeships. “We’re thrilled to report that students in this program have achieved remarkable success, which demonstrates the strength of this model in preparing the next generation of HVAC professionals,” said Dana Moore, Interim Dean of Engineering,Transporation and Technology. Meet representatives from county departments and local nonprofits offering resources like FEMA application assistance, free flu shots, disaster unemployment registration, home repair help, legal aid and more. BIG NEWS: For those seeking employment or a career transition following Hurricane Helene, a new ‘Build Your Future Grant’ opportunity can fully fund tuition and fees for most courses and programs this spring at Blue Ridge Community College. While resources are available, all certificate, diploma and two-year associate degree programs are eligible for the grant, as well as Short-Term Training courses offered through the Workforce Continuing Education division. Build Your Future Grant applications for all certificate, diploma and two-year associate degree programs will be accepted starting Friday, Nov. 15, as part of the enrollment process for eligible students affected by Hurricane Helene. New students must first complete their Blue Ridge applications at https://lnkd.in/dCWeWd39, and later complete the Build Your Future Grant application with instructions available at www.blueridge.edu/build.
