Los Angeles County voters will soon decide on Measure A, a proposed solution for the homelessness crisis. Building on the perceived successes of Measure H, which expires in 2027, Measure A aims to replace the current 1/4 cent sales tax with a 1/2 cent tax to fund homelessness prevention efforts. ? If passed, Measure A would generate: - $3 billion over 10 years for housing production and preservation. - $1.3 billion for low-income renter support, including emergency rental assistance and legal aid. - Incentives for L.A. County to maintain their $100 million annual housing trust fund. - At least $2 billion for new housing built by union labor. - Commitments to wage equity for nonprofit workers. ? Critics of Measure A highlight past inefficiencies, lack of transparency, and increased taxpayer burden during inflation as major concerns. ? Today, we tribute Sam Rubin, a KTLA reporter for 33 years and a beloved Los Angeles Mission family member. Sam was an iconic entertainment and news journalism figure and a passionate advocate for the unhoused. His legacy extended beyond his engaging personality and magnetic presence on screen. Sam worked tirelessly alongside KTLA to make a significant impact. Los Angeles Mission CEO Pastor Troy Vaughn shared heartfelt words reflecting his profound influence: "Sam Rubin left an indelible mark on our community. He was more than a media icon; he was a passionate advocate for those in need. We are deeply saddened by his passing and forever grateful for his compassion and dedication." We extend our deepest condolences to Sam's family, friends, and colleagues at KTLA. His loss leaves a void that will be hard to fill, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him and those who were touched by his work.

Throughout Black History Month the Los Angeles Mission helped advance equity in Black health, wealth, and education by launching a series of events to build the community. As part of these efforts we held a career fair on February 21st. Attendees received career coaching, resume building, on the job hiring, and intake for speciality trade industries.
