关于我们

LAX, the eighth-busiest airport in the world serving 75 million guests in 2023, is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), a proprietary, revenue-generating department of the City of Los Angeles that also governs Van Nuys Airport (VNY). As the international gateway to the Southern California region, LAX and its partners are dedicated to meeting global airport standards for customer satisfaction, safety, regional economic leadership, organizational performance, and sustainability. In 2023, LAX offered an average of 693 daily nonstop flights to 114 destinations in the U.S. and to 78 international destinations on 78 commercial airlines. To better serve the millions of domestic and international guests that travel through LAX each year, the airport is undergoing a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program to modernize its entire campus. Initiatives underway include an Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rental Car Facility and two projects that will each add over one million square feet to the airport's existing property: Terminal 9 and Concourse 0. Employees and guests at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) can now catch a glimpse of the Automated People Mover (APM), as a new phase of testing will bring train cars through the Central Terminal Area (CTA). This is a key milestone for the APM testing team, with the first train vehicles crossing over Sepulveda and Century boulevards, and entering the CTA for the first time ever. In the coming weeks, design-builders LINXS (LAX Integrated Express Solutions) will conduct the first set of tests in these areas to confirm proper vehicle clearance across the elevated track and through the three APM stations inside the CTA. The initial clearance tests will run at minimal speed with a single pair of APM vehicles and will gradually increase in speed through the end of 2025.

Los Angeles World Airports has begun the process of relocating all nine segments of the Midfield Satellite Concourse South (MSC South) project across the airfield. The MSC South project is being built using a cutting-edge technique called Offsite Construction and Relocation (OCR), which allows for segments of a project to be constructed at a different location before being transported to the final site for installation. Today marked the successful delivery of the third building segment to the project site, which is located south of the West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal. As an extension of the West Gates, MSC South will add approximately 150,000 square feet of space and eight gates for narrowbody aircraft. The construction team delivering MSC South under General Contractor W.E. O'Neil Construction is comprised of local workers, with more than 30% representation from Los Angeles' workforce. Because the segments were constructed using the OCR method, contractors were able to include workers who may not have been eligible to perform work on an active airfield. The project includes 374 local hires and 2 HireLAX Apprenticeship Readiness Program graduates. More than 32 percent of total work hours to date have been completed by local workers, surpassing the project’s goal of 30 percent. Thank you to our partners W.E. O'Neil Construction, Woods Bagot, Buro Happold, SME Steel and the entire project team. Read more at lax.to/Rb9g6.

As one of many visionary projects that are a part of LAX's modernization, LuLu's Place has achieved a key milestone. Yesterday, the project broke ground at a ceremony attended by Mayor Karen Bass, Councilwoman Traci Park, Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, BOAC President Karim Webb, LAWA CEO John Ackerman, LAWA executives and staff, community leaders, students and project donors and partners. LuLu's Place would not have been possible without Doug Kimmelman and all of the incredible partners who share in the vision to create an athletics and education-focused hub for the community. From tennis courts, soccer fields, a multi-purpose field, volleyball courts and basketball courts to a playground, dog park and picnic area, LAWA looks forward to welcoming students and their families to our backyard. #LAXTransformation #LuLusPlace
