“The happiness you see on peoples’ faces when you give them food is why I do this,” says volunteer Alma Hall. “I can go home and know I did something good today. Their smiles make me come back and continue to support them.” Hall has been volunteering at Sowing Seeds Sowing Seeds For Life for over 15 years. Before volunteering, she was a food recipient and knew firsthand the challenges of being food insecure. As a volunteer now, when someone drives up to the Sowing Seeds distribution, she knows what that person is going through, so she meets everyone with dignity, respect, a lending ear and a smile. Hall's civic-minded spirit exemplifies the sentiment of our community's countless volunteers and donors. Her story reminds us of the difference we can all make in the lives of our neighbors. https://lnkd.in/gHQmY-Fu

Romy, a retiree, was among the first cars lined up for a food distribution event at the Sowing Seeds For Life food pantry in Pomona. Living on a fixed income with rising living costs, including food, can exacerbate the most vulnerable in our community. Thanks to food distributions, older adults like Romy can pick up essential food resources to help celebrate holidays, special occasions and the whole year.
