In 1982, artist Barbara Nessim began a secret late-night residency at Time Video Information Services in New York, which granted her exclusive access to the company's Norpak IPS-2 Telidon graphics terminal—provided she work between 5 pm and 9 am. Nessim used these late nights to teach herself the system from a manual, and crafted women's faces in sharp angles and jagged curves, as shown above ↑ these boundary-crossing feminist figures heralded in a new era of computer-enabled graphics. "Color Veil" is now on view in our exhibition Digital Witness ?
