We recently expanded TAP-to-Exit to the B/D faregates at Union Station. The program, which has received positive feedback from Metro riders, was first launched at the North Hollywood B Line Station in May 2024, followed by the Downtown Santa Monica E Line Station in September 2024. Following the expansion to Downtown Santa Monica, incidents reported on the Transit Watch app dropped 55 percent on the E Line when TAP-to Exit was paired with fare enforcement. Ultimately, Metro will expand the program to all end-of-the-line stations. The Union Station Tap-to-Exit directional signage aims to create an uplifting environment in the station, thanking riders by name. Our creative team used a list of the 100 most common names in California to create this signage, which improves circulation and guides riders toward the faregates. Along with these fare-enforcement efforts, Metro continues to offer a number of no-cost and reduced-fare programs for various groups of riders. Information on all Metro’s reduced fare programs, including discounts for seniors, persons with disabilities and college students can be found at: ?metro.net/riding/fares/
