Metro has a vision, to help Southeast LA residents connect to the people and places they love the most by building a new light rail line called the Southeast Gateway Line. When completed, the Southeast Gateway Line will give people in Artesia, Cerritos, Bellflower, Paramount, Downey, South Gate, Cudahy, Bell, Huntington Park, Vernon, Florence-Firestone and downtown Los Angeles the type of world-class transit service that will save you time, money, and improve your quality of life. The Southeast Gateway line will create nearly 90,000 jobs, reduce traffic on our local roads by 34 million vehicle miles per year, and increase access to opportunity to residents along the project area -- 44 percent of whom live below the poverty line. In short, it will benefit the residents of Southeast LA County, and our region, for generations to come. Last week, Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins joined a delegation of local mayors, councilmembers, Metro staff and other representatives led by?Board Chair and LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn who traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit the White House,?U.S. Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Capitol?to request $100 million for the Southeast Gateway Line in President Biden’s 2026 budget. We look forward to continuing to work with the Biden-Harris Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, and Congress to fund this project and benefit millions of people in Southeast LA County. Metro's Women & Girl's Governing Council (WGGC) was established in September 2017 and is made up of a varied group of women and men from various departments in the agency. The WGGC meets monthly and works together to promote effective, innovative and collaborative change by examining Metro's policies, programs and services from a gender perspective.? ? They recently hosted their Women in Leadership Lunch & Learn Series where Deputy Chief Customer Experience Yvette ZR Rapose spoke on "Leading with Confidence" and how assertive and effective communication is crucial for everyone, enabling individuals to express ideas, set boundaries and advocate for themselves and others! ? Los Angeles Metro ridership increased for 20th straight month in July. The agency had 25.5 million boardings in July on its bus and rail services, reaching 81.8 percent of its July 2019 pre-COVID ridership level. https://lnkd.in/e3pHQ7MM
