To the freshman class at Northern Kentucky University, welcome home! Occupied solely by first-year students, this new residence hall is the first of its kind on Northern Kentucky University’s campus in more than 17 years, and we are honored to have played a role in its design. We collaborated with Lord Aeck Sargent on this new student housing project, which responds to the university’s desire to cultivate a strong residential community. The modern five-story structure houses nearly 300 students and features an outdoor plaza and green space to foster social connections across the campus. The facility incorporates sustainable design strategies that reduce high energy and water costs. On the ground floor, a vibrant lobby welcomes students towards an open, light-filled commons area. Ample space surrounds a nearby central community kitchen where students can eat, gather, socialize, study, and develop lasting relationships. This project is certified LEED Silver. In Building Design+Construction Media’s 2023 Giants 400 Report, we ranked in the top 25 of Student Housing Architecture firms.
