After leaving corporate life in 2013, I pursued every passion that I had left far behind: 1) I pursued a Master of Art and now lead tours in NYC art galleries. 2) I teach Spanish at Berlitz because I love seeing students learn my native language, 3) I got my first pet as an adult, not having had time for a pet during my full-time heavy-travel years, and 4) I went back to the piano after 30 years, discovering that it's possible to play better than I ever did. Here is some of my advice: Move on fully from what you did if you want and have the luxury to do so (I mean REALLY move on. I wasted time doing jobs that were "default Pharma-related jobs." I was extremely unhappy doing those) Assume you have an ENCORE career. Life is hardly over after that big job. Be OPEN to portfolio careers. Your life is no longer ONE big job. It's a series of parallel jobs and activities. You CAN absolutely recover long-lost passions. Do not dismiss them or assume they are gone. (No, Netflix is not a passion).

Thanks to the Penn Club of New York for continuing to promote and give me the opportunity to lead sold out art gallery walks. This was one of our two groups on Saturday. The PACE gallery sixth floor terrace never disappoints.

One of the best parts of working at Pfizer remains being friends with the wonderful people whom I met during those 17 wonderful years. Gail Triggs and I met in 1996 while working in the field of infectious disease. Gail was not only perfect in her role of professional relations, working with and being an ambassador for our global clients, but also an absolute joy to work with. We always found the time to giggle despite busy stressful roles. Tonight, Gail and I found ourselves together having the best time at a gorgeous members-only gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. It's incredible to think that we met nearly 30 years ago and didn't see each other for the last 14 or so. We can still have the best time and giggle together today.

It was an absolute thrill to play at a student piano recital this evening at New York's Argentinian Consulate. Our teacher Rosa Antonelli is a an accomplished Argentinian professional pianist and teacher. She arranged for six of her students to play at the consulate to a packed house. I played music by composers from Spain, Argentina and my native Mexico. I am grateful to her for her incredible talent as a teacher. Having played from 6 to 18, I left the piano for 30 years, from college through my corporate career, and thought I would never play again. Don't ever assume you can't go back to something you loved.

A wonderful Saturday doing what I love, leading two tours of incredible works at NYC art galleries. Today, both tours were for members of the Penn Club of New York. I am grateful for the sold-out tours and for the wonderful feedback. I am convinced that this is what I was meant to do. I am a student at heart and I research my artists and their works to death. Audiences comment on how much I know and share with them. We started at David Zwirner on East 69th Street and moved North along Madison, starting with Brazilian painter Amadeo Luciano Lorenzato, followed by a superb Dubuffet and Giacometti show at Nahmad Contemporary, Anselm Kiefer photography at Gagosian, and then Cara Nahaul paintings at Alexander Berggruen (and it was lovely that Alexander came out to see us and chimed in), an incredible group show at Mnuchin, then new paintings by Eric Fischl at Skarstedt and finally Wayne Thiebaud's delicious paintings of sweets and snacks at Acquavella. Next comes a gallery tour for Pfizer Alumni colleagues. It is just about sold-out and it will be wonderful to see all who signed up. www.lookatnyart.com

It was great to have access to a VIP preview of this year's FRIEZE art fair in NYC. The Shed proves to be a wonderful space for this. I must say that I much prefer this space to those on the piers or Randall's island.
