?? Meet The Team Monday: Jim Ware, Program Director at Longleaf Recovery Baldwin ?? Today, we’re excited to introduce Jim Ware, our dedicated Program Director here at Longleaf Recovery Baldwin. With a personal connection to the struggles of addiction and an unwavering commitment to helping others, Jim plays a pivotal role in ensuring both our clients and staff have the best possible experience in their recovery journey. Hometown: Chesterfield, MO (just outside St. Louis) How did you get into the industry? "I didn’t always envision myself in this role, but growing up with an alcoholic father deeply influenced my path. I witnessed firsthand the chaos and heartbreak addiction brings to families, which ultimately inspired me to pursue a degree in psychology and specialize in addiction counseling. Drawing from both my personal experiences and professional training, I am committed to helping individuals and families break free from the cycle of addiction and find hope in recovery." Favorite part of the job? "One of my favorite parts of being an addiction counselor is witnessing the transformation in people's lives. Helping individuals overcome their struggles with addiction and seeing them regain control, rebuild relationships, and rediscover their sense of purpose is incredibly rewarding. It's a privilege to be part of their journey toward healing and to offer support, encouragement, and guidance along the way." Fun Fact: "The Anderson Cooper program called me and wanted to know if I was interested in doing an intervention live on his Anderson Cooper 360. They referenced the A&E Intervention series. I told his assistant no. She asked why? I told her I was uncomfortable embarrassing someone on national television with a serious addiction/mental health problem. There was a long pause... I said I could do an interview with a family where the outcome of the intervention was a success. I explained that I did this intervention on a mother with her husband and adult children. She was willing to come on the show and tell what it was like, what happened, and what it was like today. She had over a year of recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. She had restored all that illness had caused her to lose. The intervention had been a success. They were not interested." Hobbies: "Spending time with my wife, son, the dogs, and friends. Golfing & fishing." Book Recommendation: "Further Along the Road Less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck, MD Favorite Sober Celebrities: "Craig Ferguson, Russell Brand, Elizabeth Taylor, and Drew Barrymore." Jim’s dedication to creating a warm, supportive, and effective recovery environment is unmatched, and we’re lucky to have him on the team! ??
