This week, our team had the opportunity to attend the Louisiana Association of Drug and Specialty Courts (LADS) 2025 Conference, engaging in discussions about the role of drug and specialty courts in improving outcomes for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. We recognize the importance of working alongside judicial professionals, treatment providers, and community leaders to create pathways to long-term recovery. The U.S. Surgeon General recently issued an advisory that highlights the direct link between alcohol consumption and increased cancer risk. According to the report, alcohol is now the third leading preventable cause of cancer in the U.S., following tobacco and obesity. I had a great visit with Emily Meyers, LPC and her team yesterday at Longbranch Recovery & Wellness. What they do for my people in the Veteran Recovery Community is unmatched. I really appreciate the opportunity to speak to the guys every time I am in town. When I find facilities that care as much as I do about my people it is so refreshing and it really reenergizes me to fight harder.
