March is National Social Work Month, and we want to take a moment to recognize social workers' incredible dedication, expertise, and compassion?in behavioral health, especially those working in addiction treatment. Social workers are often the unsung heroes of recovery. They provide essential support, from crisis intervention and case management to advocacy and long-term aftercare planning. Their work ensures that individuals struggling with substance use disorders receive not just treatment but comprehensive, compassionate care that addresses the full scope of their needs, mental, emotional, and social. At Longbranch Recovery, our social workers are vital in guiding individuals toward lasting recovery. They help them rebuild relationships, access critical resources, and navigate the challenges of healing. Their work extends beyond treatment; they empower clients with the tools and support needed for lifelong recovery. Kindness shouldn’t be limited to Random Acts of Kindness Day—especially in addiction treatment. Research shows that compassionate care improves patient retention, reduces relapse rates, and enhances mental well-being. As physicians, small actions—using non-stigmatizing language, listening without judgment, and providing patient-centered care—can make a lasting impact. At Longbranch Recovery, we integrate these principles daily to create a healing, supportive environment. Want to learn more about how empathy improves patient outcomes? Check out our latest article here ?? https://lnkd.in/eKQynuM2 How do you bring compassion into your practice? This week, our team had the opportunity to attend the Louisiana Association of Drug and Specialty Courts (LADS) 2025 Conference, engaging in discussions about the role of drug and specialty courts in improving outcomes for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. We recognize the importance of working alongside judicial professionals, treatment providers, and community leaders to create pathways to long-term recovery. Events like LADS allow us to stay informed, exchange insights, and strengthen our partnerships to better serve individuals in need. ?? Together we can work to support recovery, reduce recidivism, and make a lasting impact. #LADS2025 #AddictionRecovery #SpecialtyCourts #CollaborationForChange #Louisiana #DrugAddicition #Addiction

The U.S. Surgeon General recently issued an advisory that highlights the direct link between alcohol consumption and increased cancer risk. According to the report, alcohol is now the third leading preventable cause of cancer in the U.S., following tobacco and obesity. Even low levels of consumption—one or fewer drinks per day—can raise the risk of certain cancers, including breast, throat, and liver cancer. ?? You can read the full advisory here: https://lnkd.in/erEXEipb While this news is alarming, it reinforces a critical truth: addressing alcohol addiction isn’t just about improving mental health or relationships—it’s also a life-saving intervention for physical health. At Longbranch Recovery, we see firsthand how alcohol addiction can harm individuals and their families, and we understand how challenging it is to break free from its grip. This advisory is a reminder that early intervention and effective treatment can save lives in more ways than one. Comprehensive addiction care doesn’t just help people recover their independence; it also reduces their risk of devastating health consequences like cancer. For physicians, this is an opportunity to discuss the hidden risks of alcohol use with patients and ensure they know that help is available. Together, we can empower individuals to make informed choices about their health and take the first step toward recovery. If you have patients struggling with alcohol addiction, let’s connect. Longbranch Recovery offers personalized, evidence-based care to help individuals start their journey to sobriety and a healthier future. #AddictionRecovery #CancerRisk #AlcoholAwareness #Healthcare #AlcoholAbuse

I had a great visit with Emily Meyers, LPC and her team yesterday at Longbranch Recovery & Wellness. What they do for my people in the Veteran Recovery Community is unmatched. I really appreciate the opportunity to speak to the guys every time I am in town. When I find facilities that care as much as I do about my people it is so refreshing and it really reenergizes me to fight harder. Getting to sit and spend time with these men and women and hear their experiences is such a blessing and I pray I was able to bring them a little hope as well. #HAVENFORHEROES #Recoveryispossible
