"In the face of problems that do not lend themselves to simple remedies, your highest calling is to be a voice that says, 'We can be better, we can do better.' You have to light lanterns of hope. The problems we face in our communities, be bold enough to imagine better outcomes.. new ideas and new possibilities. As you wind your way through what is possible, wander into the land of the impossible... the politically impossible, the socially impossible, the economically impossible. Then, as you wander thorough these impossible lands, pause and wonder 'Why not?'" These are powerful excerpts from Dr. R Kirby Godsey's keynote 2019 to the Georgia Cities Solutions task force. So it was a tremendous honor to recognize Dr. Godsey, Mayor Shirley Franklin, and the City of Decatur, Leesburg, CITY OF RINGGOLD and the City of Tifton last night at the Georgia City Solutions Impact Awards. I'm incredibly proud to serve as Vice Chair for the GCS Board of Directors because the work that we're doing to help overcome generational poverty through bringing programs and resources to cities across the State of Georgia is inspiring. We're helping communities overcome impossible problems with new possibilities, new ideas, new approaches and new resources. If you'd like to be a lantern of hope, and an agent for empowerment for Georgia's cities, please consider supporting us https://lnkd.in/einRYtdN And, if you'd like to listen to Dr. Godsey's speech, I'll include the link in the comments.
