Inside the exam room: At every appointment, we conduct a comprehensive, 12-point examination of your eyes. One of those points is corneal shape measurement. The cornea is the transparent, dome-shaped, outermost layer of the eye. Its function is to help focus light that enters the eye. Corneal shape measurement assesses the curvature, shape, and topography of the cornea to identify any possible irregularities or distortions that may affect vision. Needing an eye exam? "I had no prior knowledge about Long Family Eye Care before visiting, no one had suggested going or offered any personal experience from their visits. I had simply went to Google to find eye doctors in my area. I hadn't been satisfied at my previous provider since it had changed hands a couple of years back and was bought out by a chain. When I first walked into the office I was greeted immediately and was quickly checked in. The front desk staff was very nice and actually thanked me for filling out the new patient paperwork in advance. I probably have been thanked before for doing that, but this thank you seemed genuine. I didn't have to wait long before going back with the tech who did all of my pre testing and took pictures etc. I wish I was better remembering names, because she was so nice. The testing was detailed and the eye puff test, which let's face it...stinks, was over and I didn't know it happened. Dr. Carver listened to me and answered all of my questions. She didn't make me feel like any of them were ridiculous or unimportant. During the exam, when we did the part "which is better, one or two....", I did not feel rushed or that she was frustrated when I was having a difficult time deciding between the two. She was very patient during that process. I haven't had the best experience during that part of the exam in the past. I left the office feeling like for the first time in YEARS that I had a complete eye exam. I felt really good about what I was told and not like I was sent through a "ten minute oil change" type appointment. I can't say enough about Long Family Eye Care. I highly recommend this office and Dr. Melanie Carver. I will be recommending them to my friends and family.
