The mission of Lone Star Justice Alliance is to redirect youth and young adults out of the Texas justice system and in to community-based treatment programs, thus increasing public safety and saving tax payer dollars.

Our kids deserve more from Texas’ justice system. One of the major obstacles is that the people with firsthand experience of the system are absent from the table where changes are made. Lawmakers need to hear the stories and perspectives that live in our schools, community organizations, and dinner tables to understand what our kids are experiencing. We are inviting youth, their families, and service providers who have a perspective or personal experience with the criminal justice system to share their stories and help create a sense of urgency at the Capitol. On December 12, LSJA and the Dallas Bar will provide a free Survivors' Project training for attorneys and advocates. The goal of the Survivors' Project is to support victims of IPV and human trafficking in the completion of the governor's special clemency application. Participants will?be trained and?supported by LSJA staff, which includes receiving?materials outlining the clemency process,?a sample application, and training on trauma-informed interviewing. Attorneys will qualify to?receive continuing legal education (CLE) credit?for?their work.?
