The fifth year of London Global Cancer Week will commence in 2023!
关于我们
Cancer is the second most common cause of death globally and was responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018, of which 70% occurred in the low- and middle-income countries. In 2020, COVID-19 emerged as cancer’s new best friend. The Coronavirus pandemic is threatening to overwhelm the fragile and overstretched health systems of low- and middle-income countries and having a catastrophic impact on the prevention and care of cancers worldwide. Launched in 2019, London Global Cancer Week has become the leading international forum for discussing all aspects of cancer prevention and treatment in the low- and middle-income countries, in addition to cancer’s place on the Global Development agenda. London Global Cancer Week 2023 dates coming soon! London Global Cancer Week 2023 will highlight the important contribution the UK makes to the fight against cancer in poorer resourced emerging nations. In a coordinated series of easy to access online discussions and events ‘London Global Cancer Week’ will provide a 360° picture of the impact of the rising incidence of cancer in these emerging countries. We will see how international partnerships can strengthen capacity in cancer control systems in many of the low and middle income countries. Sessions will address the challenge that COVID-19 and reductions in Overseas Development Assistance poses to the futures of cancer patients and their families in poorer resourced regions of the world. Participating institutions include the World Health Organisation, The Commonwealth Secretariat, International Atomic Energy Agency, International Agency for Research in Cancer, National Cancer Grid India, NCI Center for Global Health, Royal Institute of International Affairs Chatham House, and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
