LOGOS Faith Development, in partnership with New Philadelphia AME Church, SoLa Impact, Gensler, HTA Construction & Development Inc, and Y Realty has secured $3.5 million to transform a former school building at 6380 Orange Avenue in Long Beach into an 11-unit affordable housing complex. This adaptive reuse project will provide stable housing for local families facing housing insecurity and includes a family enrichment center, computer lab, and farm to table community garden. SoLa Impact and Model/Z were honored to welcome the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Scott Turner, to our Model-Z modular factory located in Watts, CA. ? We had a series of productive conversations with the HUD Secretary about responding to the LA fires, catalyzing affordable housing supply, supporting the Section8 program, and the priorities of the new HUD leadership.? We greatly appreciate the partnerships with LA Mayor Karen Bass, LA City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson; Lourdes Castro Ramirez, CEO of HACLA;? Emilio Salas PHM CME, Executive Director of Los Angeles County Development Authority; Tiena Johnson Hall, General Manager of the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD), Deborah La Franchi, CEO of SDS Capital Group, and Pastor Martin P., CEO of Logos Development who were also in attendance.? We collectively agree that LA must produce dramatically more housing of all types, but particularly affordable and workforce housing, and HUD is a vital resource to enable Los Angeles to rebuild after the recent fires.? ? Once the factory is running at full capacity, it will be creating over 5,000 units/year of affordable housing for Los Angeles. With Los Angeles’ homelessness crisis further exacerbated by the recent wildfires, collaboration between the public, philanthropic, and private sectors is more critical than ever. ??Exciting news from LOGOS! A new affordable housing development is set to rise at 9704 S. Broadway, apartments exclusively for low- and moderate-income renters. This initiative is a collaboration between Logos Faith Development and Cal Lutheran Homes. ??The project aims to provide much-needed affordable housing options in the area with a focus on interiors that inspire our residents to aspire, elevated landscape design, a farm to table community garden ?? for the residents (designed and created by Jennifer Oliver, Ph.D.), and an overall community driven aesthetic and programming inspired by the rich culture & heritage of the region to create LOGOS distinctions & value propositions in the affordable housing marketplace that enhance the community and our resident's quality of life. Excited to announce a groundbreaking partnership between California Lutheran Homes, CEO Nancy Ackerman, CFRE, and Team Logos Development to address the region's affordable housing shortage. This unique collaboration brings together a faith-based funder (CLH) and a faith-based developer (LOGOS) dedicated to building on church-owned land. Our joint effort spans denominations, aiming to tackle the housing crisis at scale by potentially expanding our cooperation to multiple development projects in time.
