Mrs. Ritter’s third grade class was featured in a FOX 29 news segment along with some fourth graders who joined for the fun. Reporter Jenn Frederick came out to see what LOGAN Hope’s all about, and Mrs. Ritter led them in a “snowball fight” as part of their morning meeting. We’re grateful FOX 29 took the time to see a glimpse of what we do! We hope you enjoy watching it. https://lnkd.in/gwFEAJMp

I graduated! Completing my master's degree through the Baylor Center for School Leadership affirmed for me that I really enjoy being a student, and that there is always a space to be learning as a leader. My top lessons that didn't come out of a textbook: 1. Learning happens best through trusted relationships. 2. Some of my favorite authors informing educational leadership are from outside of the world of education.* 3. Good leadership reflects an important part of my Christian faith: the process is full of grace and growth, and doing it right doesn't mean that everything falls to me to be more, do more, and make it all happen. *I enjoyed every page of Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara, How Big Things Get Done by Bent Flyvbjerg, and The Power of Moments by Chip Heath and Dan Heath. Jonathan Haidt gets an honorable mention as well. My sincere thanks to Jon Eckert, Herb Cox, EdD, Erik Ellefsen, Sahira Kodra, Katie Wiens, Timothy Wiens, Jay Ferguson, Donna Harris, and Matt Thomas for your roles in shaping a career-shifting learning experience from day 1. #catalyticleadership #christianeducation #urbaneducation #schoolleadership

One of the best days of the year when we get to celebrate school leaders from around the world Baylor University. These leaders all graduated with master’s or doctoral degrees today. So grateful for the work we get to do. Congratulations Susan Crosier, Ed.D. - you are now Dr. Crosier!

I think that we improve student engagement massively when we bring experts into our learning spaces. Even more, we can empower our students in new ways when we nurture them to serve as experts. My colleague Eli Spector has challenged me recently about making sure our students are doing work that matters--that's where we need real work that meets real needs for real people. Hosting yesterday's TfT intensive on Formational Learning Experiences at LOGAN Hope School was an incredible experience. I was so proud to see our student experts at work. I'm thankful for Darryl DeBoer and Amanda Albright for shaping a day of learning and sharing from diverse voices: students, parents, neighbors, board members, teachers, alumni, and administrators. Glad to have Philly represented with Olney Christian School, The City School, and Delaware County Christian School plus educators across the country, Canada, Haiti, and New Zealand! #teachingfortransformation #christianeducation #urbandeducation #feedbackengagementwellbeing

A historic snapshot: the house on 13th Street In 1991, Ken and Anita MacBain moved into a Philadelphia neighborhood struggling with poverty and crime in order to serve at-risk refugees who had escaped genocide in Cambodia. After witnessing many children drop out of school and turn to gang life, the need was clear for a unique school, designed to meet the specific needs of the children of that community. In 2002, LOGAN Hope School opened its doors to 17 students.

At LOGAN Hope, we love partnering with other Christian schools. We were blessed by Lancaster County Christian School this past week for serving at our campus during their mission trip. High school volunteers worked on various projects including building picnic tables, removing all rubble from our sunflower field, and working with our younger students to plant bulbs in our garden beds to prepare for the fall. Thanks to their students and staff’s efforts, there’s been incredible work beautifying our campus. Special thanks to Xavier Shea and Mark Hobbs, C.A.A. of LCCS, a friend and Baylor Center for School Leadership classmate of our Head of School Jim Sovocool. Thank you for taking the initiative to serve at LOGAN Hope last week! #ChristianEducation #Service #MissionTrip?#LOGANHope #ServiceLearning

New school year, here we come! With a final morning before welcoming students, we began our day with a time of greeting and prayer in the midst of our student-planted sunflower field. Students returning tomorrow will get to see their planted seeds in full bloom! I am blessed to serve with this team of educators in our city.

Today we celebrated the progress of a three-year training initiative alongside our friends at Delaware County Christian School. I am so proud of the LOGAN Hope team, who have demonstrated humility, strength, and grace as we have strengthened our practice and unified our work. These teachers inspire me.? Our training with Teaching for Transformation has been an amplifier for our mission of fostering hope and a future through Christian discipleship and transformative academics. I am grateful for?Dan Steinfield?demonstrating generosity and humility as we have learned from each others’ schools. I have been sharpened by other administrators who have shared in the tricky space of leading through change: Mark Dixon, Stacey Hicklin, Chad Fenley, Kristen Levis, and Claire Vesper. I am grateful for old friends and new to share in the continued walk of growth.? Darryl DeBoer?thanks for getting us going on this.? Timothy Wiens?I like your portrait in the mansion.?

A joy to join together with another school that values faith, integrity, diligence, excellence, and service. We have had a great week hosting Peter Zwolak and Sarah Boan with Williamson College of the Trades during their week of service. Williamson provides a much-needed track for excellent vocational and skills training after high school. This team of students were great models for our LOGAN Hope K-8th graders: combining hard work, disciplined skills, and service into action. #williamsonserves #servicelearning #realwork
