  • I'm so excited to speak at the REACH Women's Network conference on Wednesday, April 23, in Winston-Salem, NC. In my morning breakout session, I will address "Pay Equity for Women: Is It Possible?" Unfortunately, the gender pay gap widened for the first time in 20 years. What can one person do? Specifically, we'll dive deep into: ?? Sticky floors (what we believe about women) ?? Broken rungs (that first supervisor role is super important) ?? Glass ceiling (getting into senior leadership) ??? Glass cliffs (surrounding yourself with support as a senior leader) Registration is now open. See you there! #reachwomensconference #winstonsalemwomen #genderpaygap #ispayequitypossible

  • This month I'm highlighting different women who inspire and teach me. Ericka Hines, JD is definitely on that list! Now she is launching a new online platform for her work. Definitely give her a follow. #womensupportingwomen #womentogether #blackwomenthriving

  • What do you wish you knew a year ago? That's what I'm discussing in this month's newsletter about interim leadership at a nonprofit. Enjoy!

  • My friend Shelly Dhamija has co-authored a book about compassion in the workplace. What a needed theme these days! In Chapter 8, Shelly outlines how Use of Self increases our leadership effectiveness. What is Use of Self? It's a continual journey of learning about ourselves while also opening ourselves up to community. Self-assessment isn't always easy because we can easily ignore what we need to change. Also, asking for meaningful feedback can feel scary. However, effective leaders effectively know themselves. Here are some quotes from Shelly's chapter that struck a chord in me: "With a firm commitment to practice, I built my emotional muscles. I learned to stop judging myself and I was surprised to see how, in turn, I let go of judgement for others as well." "Who we are always goes with us into each of our roles and situations. Our collective knowledge, thoughts, feelings, experiences, and vulnerabilities inform all that we do." “Preach what you practice, should be the mantra—not, Practice what you preach. The mantra’s essence lies in paying attention to seeing self, seeing others, and seeing context. Wherever we show up, our whole self comes along." Such a great read right now. Buy it now on Amazon Kindle.
