Designing to Improve the Human Experience
关于我们
LOCUS Architecture crafts meaningful architecture for clients who care about their spaces and what they represent. We're true to our passions - human participation, innovative construction, and beautiful spaces - without being beholden to restrictions of style or trend. We’re probably the only firm within a 4-hour drive of the Twin Cities with partners who designed and built their own homes. We practiced sustainability 10 years before LEED, led clients to create visioning exercises specifically tailored to them, and climbed through junk yards with clients searching for the perfect patina. We camped with students while building structures for kids in Katrina-ravaged Biloxi, compiled 50 years-worth of traditional and alternative building experience, and organized free lectures on relationship based creativity. With a wall of design awards to give us credibility, why trust us to create better experiences for you? Because we excel in creating them ourselves.

Locus Architecture has been working with CAPI USA - Immigrant Opportunity Center to develop a new facility at their building in Brooklyn Center. CAPI is an organization whose mission is to guide refugees and immigrants on their journey toward self-determination and social equality. Locus staff attended CAPI’s Give and Grow event last week and had a wonderful time. CAPI’s work is the inspiration for our design proposal – the building symbolizes CAPI’s role as the stitch that helps establish immigrants in their new homeland in Minnesota. Along with a green roof, community garden, flexible event Plaza, training rooms, offices, and tech support center, we anticipate the positive impact this project will have on CAPI staff and the community.

While driving around the Metro in the past three weeks, I've had a chance to visit a handful of older projects, some approaching 20 years, and see how they've been altered or the landscape around them changed. I've been impressed with how the projects have weathered and/or remained relevant! From Lebanon Hills Mountain Bike Trailhead to Unitarian Universalist Church of Minnetonka to Lake Byllesby Pavilion to Churchill Street to a handful of private clients, it's fun to see past projects lived in. Thank you to the clients that make these projects possible!

What a great turn out at the Grand Opening of the Lake Byllesby Pavillion this past Saturday. The Pavillion located near Canon Falls and designed by Locus Architecture, will provide shelter, picnic, and restroom facilities for visitors to the park. A unique feature of the Pavillion is the map of the Canon River and it's tributaries painted on to the underside of the ceiling. Congratulations to the staff and residents of Goodhue County.

On June 8th, at 9am, Goodhue County will open the Richard Samuelson Pavilion at Lake Byllesby, just outside Cannon Falls. From concept design, to a grant proposal to the DNR, through design and construction, we've been working on this one for about 5 years - and we think it's turned out beautifully! If the weather cooperates, bring brunch and enjoy the lake with us in June!

Our current staff has direct ties to Lebanon, Nigeria, Taiwan, China, The Philippines, and India - with more to come. It's such an interesting international place to work. So many stories from so many geographies. We're very lucky!
We are happy to welcome Cynthia S. to the Locus Architecture team. Cynthia is a recent transplant from Lebanon who enjoys spending her time hiking, camping, music, visual arts and martial arts. Looking forward to the great insight and contribution Cynthia will bring to our team.
