  • LET’S CELEBRATE EACH OTHER’S WINS ! Taking time to reflect on our achievements is so important… we often underestimate the progress we’re making and focus on the things we haven’t achieved. That’s one of the reasons why we host a monthly happy hour for our LIT Community members. We bet each of you has at least one win to share. ?? Share any win from the past month - big or small - in the comments below! And why not be a cheerleader for a moment, too, by cheering on someone else while you’re here!

  • ?? This is one of the most important questions you need to know the answer to as a business owner: ? ? Who is your ideal client? ? ? Knowing your ideal client can guide you in *almost every decision* you make in your business, from what services to offer (What does your ideal client need?) to how and where to market yourself (Where will they see your content? What will resonate with your ideal client?) ? ? It will help you stand out from the crowd, be more genuine, and connect with people (potentially leading to more clients and getting booked out!). ? ? But it goes beyond knowing just the age and gender of your ideal client. The more clarity you can get on who they are, what they’re struggling with, and what makes them tick, the better. ? ? If you’re a little unsure about this, read our blog post and download our free Ideal Client worksheet to get more clarity on who YOUR ideal client is. ??? ? ? https://lnkd.in/eN4Hvwaf?

  • When working online, our boundaries around who we take on as clients can feel a little… blurry. If someone isn’t a close connection but we know them from a shared space (like an event, a distant social circle, or even mutual friends), is it still ethical to work with them? In small, in-person communities, bumping into a client at the grocery store might be unavoidable. But online, we can choose more carefully who we work with. So, where do we draw the line? ?? Would you take on someone who could potentially show up at the same event someday? What about a connection through your wider social network? One way to approach this is to ask yourself: Would the dual role create tension—for you or the client? Could it compromise confidentiality or make either of you feel uneasy? Sometimes, it’s more about protecting the therapeutic space than anything else. But there isn’t a clear-cut answer to this; we each have to figure out and set our boundaries. How do you approach this? What boundaries have you set to keep your private and professional lives separate? Let’s discuss??.

  • How often should your clients meet with you? It’s all about finding the sweet spot between flexibility and structure. ?? For some, allowing them to choose the rhythm of sessions—whether weekly, biweekly, or as-needed—can empower them and foster trust. But for deeper, ongoing work, you might need to recommend a regular schedule to maintain momentum, address patterns, and build toward long-term growth. It’s not a one-size-fits-all answer. Every client’s journey is different, and the key is knowing when to lead and when to follow, keeping their goals and progress in mind. How do you navigate this balance? Share your insights below! ??

  • This week, we’ve been focusing on the complex issue of taking maternity leave when you’re a self-employed therapist. Our co-founder Melissa has been on maternity leave for the past few months after welcoming her baby into the world in October. Here are a few tips she’s found before, during, and after maternity leave: First of all, lay the foundations for your maternity leave: ? Notify your clients—early & with care. ? Prep your systems so they run on autopilot as much as possible. ? Think about how and when you want to return to work (full-time, part-time, etc). How to tell your clients you’re going on maternity leave - the key is early, clear, and compassionate communication: ?? Give your clients plenty of advance notice to adjust. ?? Make space to work through any feelings that come up. ?? Share when you’ll step back and return. ?? Offer referrals (if needed). Prepare your business for your leave: ? Automate where you can (think: out-of-office emails and a waiting list). ? Use scheduling tools to limit admin tasks. ? Decide how YOU want to show up when you return. But most importantly, don’t just prepare your business - take the time to: ?? Plan for your ideal postpartum support system. ?? Set boundaries to protect your peace. ?? Rest without guilt (you’ve earned it!). ?? Build in some flexibility, if possible - you might find you need more time off than you first thought. Is there anything else you’d add? Share your tips (or questions) below!

  • As therapists, we carry so many expectations—of ourselves, our clients, and the therapeutic process. ?? Are we diving deep enough? ?? Are we teaching skills effectively? ?? Should progress look linear, or is this just part of the messy, complex work? Sometimes, we expect ourselves to fix things fast, forgetting that therapy often involves slow, repetitive work. When a client struggles to integrate a skill, is it the wrong tool? Or is it a sign we need to revisit, adapt, and give it time to take root? On the other hand, we might assume clients are ready to dive into deeper topics when they’re still working on building foundational skills. Or we might feel frustrated when sessions feel “stuck,” even though change often happens quietly in the spaces between sessions. We’ve found it’s really helpful to be able to talk this through with colleagues in our case supervision sessions, and getting another viewpoint may be all you need to put things into perspective. What expectations do you notice yourself holding—for yourself, your clients, or the process? How do those expectations shape your practice and impact your own well-being? Let’s talk ??
