"The benefit of organized resistance goes beyond fighting immigration raids." Powerful story and photographs showcasing the widespread resistance to Trump's anti-immigrant tirades among Mexian communities nationwide ?? https://lnkd.in/e6bGM93j

TODAY: Minneapolis, led by LP members Robin Wonsley, Jeremiah Ellison, and Jason Chavez, has become the FOURTH city in the nation to ban rental price fixing. They join Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Berkeley in passing bans to address this corporate collusion. Portland, Providence, Chicago, San Diego, and San Jose are also exploring their own bans, and Jersey City, Hoboken, and San Diego County have taken action in different ways. Rental price fixing has been driving up costs and driving people out of their homes. That’s why we’ve been working with local governments to ban the practice. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eWk6z_Qu

We are #hiring for a ?Communications Coordinator? to join our small and mighty Communications team! The Communications Coordinator will serve as a critical implementer of LP’s communications strategy and will be primarily responsible for supporting the organization’s day-to-day communications needs and public brand. While applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, we encourage people to apply by the priority deadline of April 10. https://lnkd.in/eP8DCYCs

LPTX members and partners gathered in Austin today to ensure their communities’ voices were heard at the state capitol. They’re fighting for Texas students, immigrants, families and workers.?? And they’re telling #txlege loud and clear that their communities do NOT support a statewide voucher program. “As local electeds, we cannot stand idly by as wealthy out-of-state billionaires funnel our public school dollars away from everyday Texans.”

“It’s about getting people the right help at the right time.” Across the country, localities are adopting community responder programs - unarmed emergency responders for mental health crises, substance use incidents, noise complaints, and more. The same way we send ambulances for medical emergencies and firefighers for fires, we need a response that better addresses the wide range of emergencies we face. Community responder programs help make sure that our emergency response system matches the needs of each situation and reduces people’s interactions with the criminal system. Are you a local elected official interested in starting a community responder program in your locality? ?? APPLY BY 3/31 to our Community Responder Cohort: localprog.org/CRcohort

More than ever, it's important for local elected officials to have a network, a community, and the resources to govern for all. Last month, we brought together 80 of our partners for a briefing on how to connect values-aligned local elected officials to our growing network. Check out our partner guide for more on how you can get involved in building our base together! https://lnkd.in/eCx8_4qF

?? ACTION ALERT: Demand the release of Mahmoud Khalil and protect the right to free speech. The Trump Administration’s disappearance of Palestinian student activist Mahmoud Khalil is an abuse of immigration law, is an attack on our First Amendment rights, and is meant to chill dissenting opinions. These are the first steps of an authoritarian regime- we need to stick together and speak out to resist this onslaught against our rights. ?? Sign the petition here: https://lnkd.in/eBcy33Zi?

We are #hiring! We're looking for someone with a track record of organizing and building coalitions to expand and anchor our work throughout Pennsylvania. This is an exciting opportunity for an organizer with deep interest and burgeoning experience in municipal-level policy campaigns. This position is based in Pennsylvania; candidates must live in the state. This is a remote position with no in-office requirement. https://lnkd.in/e3a9icUJ
