We’re thrilled to announce that Local Kitchens has teamed up with Eggslut founder and celebrity Chef Alvin Cailan to launch our latest brand, Sweet Onion Burger (SOB). SOB features Alvin’s fresh takes on the classic Oklahoma Onion Burger (aka a perfectly juicy combo of Angus beef pressed with thinly shaved onions). It’s an homage to this regional delicacy and the only of its kind in Northern California. If you don’t know Alvin, you’ve definitely seen his work. He’s the creator of the famed restaurant Eggslut and has become synonymous with burger culture: founding LA’s top burger spot, Amboy, hosting FirstWeFeast’s “The Burger Show” and the official food consultant for “Bob’s Burgers.” The LK team had a blast developing this brand in-house with Alvin. We leaned into his love of all things retro, infectious sense of humor, countless burger tastings, and thinking of all the ways we could spin S-O-B… (Sweet Onion Burger, onions make you sob, oh and….) Excited to share that Local Kitchens has raised our Series B! Chefs need a food delivery-native business model. "Ghost kitchens" tried to solve for this but focused too much on tech while skipping the basics - great food and human connection. Multi-brand restaurants are the answer, and are about to become the next massive wave in restaurants since Chipotle in the 1990s and McDonalds in the 1960s.
