Prevention Saves Lives—And Cuts Costs ? When prevention programs are cut, the cost isn’t just measured in dollars—it’s measured in lives. ? In a recent USA Today article, our Chief Medical Officer, William Hsu, MD, reflected on the federal cuts that halted the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)—a landmark initiative proving that nutrition and lifestyle changes can dramatically reduce diabetes risk. “Prevention is one of those areas where we should do more, not less,†said Dr. Hsu, who leads the clinical strategy at L-Nutra Health. ? Diabetes remains the most expensive chronic disease in the U.S., costing over $143.9 billion annually in direct healthcare expenses. Prevention isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the smarter investment. ? The DPP was groundbreaking, but it was completed over 20 years ago. Science has advanced, bringing innovations like Fasting-Mimicking Nutrition that offer pragmatic, effective solutions. Yet, when DPP funding is cut, prevention isn’t being upgraded—it’s being eliminated, leaving drugs as the default option. ? At L-Nutra Health, we’re continuing the work that programs like the DPP began, using therapeutic nutrition and lifestyle medicine to help patients reduce reliance on medication, improve biomarkers like A1C and blood pressure, and take back control of their metabolic health. ? The stakes are too high to delay prevention. It’s time to push for long-term solutions—not just short-term fixes. Thanks, Trevor Hughes and USA Today, for such a thoughtful piece! https://lnkd.in/gJnik42c

The healthcare landscape is shifting dramatically with GLP-1 medications gaining unprecedented prominence in metabolic health treatment and policy discussions. Regulatory agencies are tightening control of compounded GLP-1s, creating tension with telehealth companies that depend on these alternatives for broader patient access. Meanwhile, these medications are becoming central to global health strategy, influencing everything from healthcare economics to geopolitical discussions as governments grapple with their costs and widespread adoption. Why This Matters: As innovative pharmaceutical treatments transform the approach to metabolic conditions, nutrition science continues to advance alongside them. Research on nutritional interventions, including Fasting Mimicking Diets and their use within comprehensive lifestyle programs, demonstrates promising results for metabolic health without the side effects or ongoing costs associated with some medications. This evolution in metabolic health represents an exciting convergence of multiple scientific disciplines working toward shared goals of improved patient outcomes and healthcare sustainability. https://lnkd.in/g35sdpKm https://lnkd.in/gMi76wMc L-Nutra Health

The science of healthy aging continues gaining mainstream attention, with TIME magazine's latest feature "The Scientific Search for Youth" showcasing promising approaches across the longevity field. We're excited to see L-Nutra's founder, Dr. Valter Longo, mentioned among the scientists pioneering innovative approaches to healthy aging. The article recognizes his work supporting "periodic fasting regimens to stress cells into a more resilient, younger state." With chronic diseases expected to cost $47 trillion worldwide by 2030, nutrition-based interventions like periodic fasting offer accessible, scalable solutions alongside pharmaceutical approaches. This growing scientific consensus validates what nutrition researchers have long advocated: dietary patterns profoundly impact cellular health and aging trajectories. Thank you Alice Park, for this thoughtful exploration of the advancing longevity landscape and the critical role nutrition science plays in addressing one of society's most pressing health challenges. https://lnkd.in/d977fGXq Joseph Antoun L-Nutra Health Andrea Ghirardi, MBA

New Research Alert: Fasting-Mimicking Diet, Sensory Function, and Cellular Rejuvenation A new study published today in Cell Reports Medicine suggests that periodic cycles of a fasting-mimicking diet (FMD) may support both metabolic health and sensory function while engaging cellular processes linked to rejuvenation. In this randomized, cross-over clinical trial, researchers found that after six cycles of FMD, the number of participants with reduced smell sensitivity (hyposmia) decreased from 38.1% to 6.4%, indicating that chemosensory decline may be more dynamic and reversible than previously thought. Beyond sensory improvements, the study observed metabolic benefits, including: - Lower blood glucose, insulin, and LDL cholesterol - Reduced inflammation markers (CRP, ESR) - Fat loss over six months without loss of lean body mass, as measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) - A reduction in diabetes and blood pressure medication use in some participants These findings align with existing research on periodic fasting and its role in cellular adaptation and metabolic renewal. Studies suggest that cycles of fasting-like nutrition may promote cellular rejuvenation. While more research is needed, this study reinforces the potential for structured fasting interventions to positively influence multiple systems in the body, including those regulating sensory perception, metabolism, and inflammation. L-Nutra Health programs integrate fasting strategies with dietetic oversight, medical monitoring, and laboratory review to provide a structured, clinically guided approach to metabolic health. By applying research-backed interventions like FMD in a supportive, medically supervised setting, these programs aim to help individuals achieve long-term metabolic and cellular health improvements. What are your thoughts on the connection between metabolism, sensory function, and cellular health? Let’s continue the discussion in the comments. https://lnkd.in/gZmbeUFi #FastingMimickingDiet #MetabolicHealth #CellularRejuvenation #LongevityScience #TasteAndSmell #DiabetesCare #PrecisionNutrition #LNutraHealth *This post is for informational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice.
