First to Go Program at Loyola Marymount University

Over the Spring 2024 Semester, we had the honor of inducting the inaugural Beta Psi chapter of Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society on Loyola Marymount University's campus. Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society is a national honor society that recognizes the academic achievements, promotes leadership, and provides support networks for first-generation scholars. We inducted 16 members into our first class all of whom maintain a GPA of 3.2+. To all of the inductees, we are so proud of you all and congratulations! This is just the beginning.??

Meet Natalia Velasco ‘25, a rising senior Political Science and Psychology double major with a minor in Public Relations from Whittier, CA! On campus, she is involved in and serves on the executive boards for the First To Go program, LMU Dance Marathon, Tri Alpha Honors Society, Alpha Chi Omega, and For The Generation Podcast. Her positions include: Chief Elections Officer for ASLMU, Co-Community Director for LMU Dance Marathon, Vice President of Philanthropy for Alpha Chi Omega, Vice President of Tri Alpha Honors Society, and an Executive Producer & Co-Host on For The Generation. Natalia is currently interning for the non-profit organization, Baby2Baby, which provides children living in poverty with clothing, diapers, and other basic necessities needed. She is interning in their Corporate Partnerships Department where she is excited to be doing research on brands and assisting in any way she can to further their mission. She is learning about different strategies on how they serve mothers and children throughout the United States. Reflecting on her experience as a first-gen student, she says: “Being first-gen has definitely opened my eyes to the resources and guidance so many other students have. I am extremely blessed to have guidance and support from my family, friends, and faculty members throughout my time at LMU. It’s also worked as a motivator for me and has helped me plant seeds for my future in so many ways.” We are so proud of you, Natalia, and can’t wait to see where your future endeavors take you!!???
