Last week my Business of Music class (co-taught by Grammy award winning artist Macy Gray) hosted the first ever “Roaring Stones Artist Showcase” in Hollywood sponsored by LMU Entrepreneurship Program & Fred Kiesner Center Our 35 students designed, promoted and ran the entire event, designing the artwork, booking the acts (including 4 very talented performers from our class) ran the sound and lights, live streamed the event to 30k people around the world via tik tok and IG Live, organized catering and merchandise sales, hosted VIPs, and promoted and SOLD OUT the venue through digital marketing, on campus promotions and even pulling off a flashmob on campus! Proceeds from the event will go to fund free music classes for kids through the Music for Young Minds Foundation and we ended the night with a special performance of the entire class singing with Macy Gray “Creep” by Radiohead while I strummed a guitar (unfortunately I can’t post videos on LinkedIn but here’s a link to them on Google drive! - https://lnkd.in/gEfUTDhE ). Thank you to all the artists, especially my good friend from Louisville Scott T. Smith for coming to California for the first time to support our class, and thanks to all my friends who supported this showcase in one of countless ways!

Last night I had the pleasure of hearing from Sarah Hardy, Co-founder of Bobbie as part of the Hilton Distinguished Entrepreneur Lecture Series at Loyola Marymount University, College of Business Administration, and I left feeling inspired and deeply moved by the authenticity and integrity that shape the brand's journey. Sarah’s stories were filled with powerful examples of how Bobbie stays true to its mission—always putting customers and community first. A few of my favorite learnings and takeaways from her talk: ? "Low ego, high conviction." This quote perfectly encapsulates the leadership mindset that has driven Bobbie’s impact. ? Advice to entrepreneurs: 1?? If you have an idea, tell someone. Your vision has a better chance to thrive when it’s shared. 2?? If you need help, ask someone. Never be afraid to seek the support you need. 3?? Do things that don't scale. Sarah shared the importance of building authentic relationships—like personally delivering products to customers—because genuine connection builds trust and loyalty. Thank you, Sarah, for the incredible insights and for reminding us all of the power of staying grounded in purpose. Thank you Jennifer Longnion for being an amazing moderator! #Entrepreneurship #Authenticity #Leadership #Community #Inspiration #Bobbie #StartupLessons #WordsToLiveBy
