Thank you, California Senator Scott Wiener, for leading the future of #PBM reform with #SB41. California Healthline exposes the unregulated prescription pricing practices of #PBMs. With #SB41, California has the opportunity to lower essential medication costs for patients and increase transparency in the health care system.

Congratulations 211 San Diego. Dial 2-1-1 for a seamless connection to resources and services.
It was great connecting with friends and colleagues to celebrate 211 San Diego’s 20th anniversary. As a former board member, I’m proud that my involvement goes back to when they first received the 2-1-1 dialing code designation. My word of intention this year is “community,” and the Connections Luncheon delivered. As a board member for Dreams for Change, it was exciting to hear them and United Way of San Diego County mentioned for their Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program. Through my role at Liver Coalition of San Diego to End Hep C SD, I know that those who call 2-1-1 can be connected to services. In the picture with me are Sara Matta, 211 San Diego’s first Executive Director, and Teresa Smith, CEO of Dreams for Change. #211sandiego

Congratulations Dr. Fondevila and Dr. Schnabl on your research awards. In 2020 local liver advocates decided to continue a three-decade tradition of supporting local impact by forming the Liver Coalition of San Diego, connected nationally through Global Liver Institute's Liver Action Network. We were pleased that the American Liver Foundation would be able to remain a national voice on liver disease. With that, they have announced the recipients of their 2024?Liver Scholar?and?Postdoctoral Research Fellowship?Awards. Of the nine national awards, we are excited that one is from San Diego. -- Marcos Fernández Fondevila, PhD, University of California, San Diego,?Deciphering the Role of Intestinal Senescence in Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease: from Characterization to Therapy and Mechanism. Additionally, ALF funded eight national Pilot Research Awards, with another recipient from San Diego. -- Bernd Schnabl, MD, University of California in San Diego, for his basic science work regarding the Role of Bacterial Virulence Factors in Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis.
ALF is thrilled to announce the recipients the 2024 Liver Scholar and Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Awards. These awards are part of ALF’s continued commitment to fund groundbreaking liver research and support early-career scientists dedicated to better understanding the biology of the healthy liver, discovering mechanisms of liver diseases, and advancing innovative treatments for liver conditions that affect 100 million Americans. https://liver.news/oss

The #MCEDAct continues to be a top issue for cancer advocates. We just provided an update to our friends at the UC San Diego's Cancer Health Equity Collaboration. Congressman Scott Peters, Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz, Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, Congressman Juan Vargas, Congressman Darrell Issa and Congressman Mike Levin. Let's pass it now and ensure more people can have access to these technologies. #MCED
