Check out Reimagining the Civic Commons' article below on measuring the effects civic infrastructure can bring to communities, featuring data demonstrating the positive impacts our efforts in Fitzgerald and along W. McNichols have had on trust, safety, and social connection!
"Civic infrastructure can contribute many positive outcomes in communities. It can create spaces for people to gather and socialize, combatting America’s loneliness epidemic. It can shift a neighborhood’s reputation, reducing the stigma born of disinvestment and negative media reports. It can mitigate climate impacts and support neighborhood economies." However, all too often, this type of infrastructure isn’t being measured in terms of its multiple benefits. We’re here to change that. Read this article on why measurement matters and download tools that can help you capture the impact of your investments in parks, trails, libraries and other civic spaces. #measurement #impact #civicinfrastructure #publicspace #metrics #Detroit Interface Studio THE JPB FOUNDATION Knight Foundation The Kresge Foundation William Penn Foundation Live6 Alliance - Detroit City of Detroit Invest Detroit https://lnkd.in/eHGC-uZQ

Last Friday, Live6 hosted John Legend ‘s HUMANLEVEL, Andre Perry of The Brookings Institution, and a delegation of local and national practitioners for a Walk the Block tour. We discussed our work in developing high quality and commercial spaces in Fitzgerald and along W. McNichols, collaborating with residents and local businesses, and how we are working every day to develop programs, plans, and partnerships that create new growth opportunities for legacy Detroiters. Shoutout to Oakland Avenue Urban Farm and Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation who were other neighborhood stops on John Legend’s tour. Thank you to The Detroit Pizza Bar, METRO DETROIT BARBER COLLEGE, and Sips On Six for showcasing what W. McNichols businesses have to offer. ??: Bre'Anna Johnston Caitlin Murphy | Chanale Greer | Jermaine R. Ruffin | Alexa Bush | Chase L. The Live6 Alliance - Detroit recently achieved Engaged-level status with the Main Street program! Liv6 is working to promote an inclusive and thriving W. McNichols corridor and to advance development strategies that catalyze it as a viable business thoroughfare and bridge between our neighborhoods’ anchor institutions — the University of Detroit Mercy and the Marygrove Conservancy. Live6 is committed to partnering with neighborhood-based developers, property owners, artists, designers, and entrepreneurs to connect their corridor to regional, state, and national economic development opportunities and small business support services. By adopting principles that the Main Street America Framework sets forth, they are aiming to promote growth locally utilizing the Main Street 4 Point approach of promotion, organization, economic vitality, and design. First look into a really cool building project currently in the works! We're exploring what micro-retailing opportunities could look like along the 6 mile corridor by designing and building a mobile vending cart for entrepreneurs who don't have a brick and mortar business but would still like to pilot their products on-the-go. Over the past week and a half, people who stopped by curious to know what projects we're working on have been excited to hear about the concept and eager to help make this project possible. Passers-by picked up tools to build, rollers to paint and even shared their ideas of affordances and functionality of this DIY mercantile vending cart. We can't wait to showcase "The LIVE 6 Commercial Cart" soon. Stay tuned and save the date *June 22, 2024* , next Saturday we'll be looking to soft launch the commercial retail cart for the "SIX MILE BLOCK PARTY".
