When I was 15 years old, I left the only school I had ever known (a small private school north of Austin that I had attended since Pre-K) and transferred to a much bigger school with much higher expectations. In hindsight, I recognize how important that decision was and how much my life's direction changed as a result. Now looking back, I cannot say enough about my time at Hyde Park Schools. I learned how to balance work life and personal life during my time there, I was able to play baseball in college because of the development I had from coaches my sophomore-senior year, I learned how to be friends with a variety of people and not just stick to my group, I met my company co-founder there, I got married in that building. . . the list goes on. Suffice to say, that place has meant a lot to me. I recently had a chance to visit with Hyde Park's Head of School, Dr. Christopher Coy, and I came away with a great feeling about the future of the school under his leadership. I'm lucky to know him! Constitution reportedly received its nickname, "Old Ironsides," during the War of 1812 because of its live oak hull. The hull was so tough that the cannon balls of the British warships BOUNCED off it! ?? → They are the broadest spreading of the oaks producing an abundance of shade ?? → The name "Live Oak" came from the fact that they remain alive and green throughout the winter while other oak trees are leafless ?? → They are a southern symbol of strength ?? ?? → A mature live oak can draw up to 50+ gallons of water a day through its root system Stay tuned ??
