From the Desk of Jeffrey Hannah??? "Did you know that our industry is at a crossroads? How do we bring-in the next generation of trade show professionals before the "silver resignation"? That’s exactly what I discuss with industry leader Laura Palker in Episode 1 of the my interview with her: "Rebuilding the US Trade Show Workforce with Laura Palker (Part 1)" on the Global Exhibitor Podcast. As President of the Exhibitions and Events Workforce Development Federation, Laura draws from her decades of experience in championing causes to share her take on the skills gap, workforce challenges, and how we can attract fresh talent to the industry. My reflections of the Lost Years on the 5th Anniversary of Covid Pandemic This event had a profound impact on individuals and industries, leading to significant changes in the way we conduct business and navigate our lives. For many, the effects were predominantly negative, yet some found opportunities for positive transformations amidst the challenges. https://lnkd.in/eHagXk_9 Exhibitions and Events Workforce Development Federation Genesis Exhibits EDPA - Experiential Designers & Producers Association Laura Palker Nancy Shaffer MUSE (Members United for Sustainable Events) Michele Fox Eventex Sandie McCoubrey ?? Tariffs and Tradeshows: The Industry’s Uncertain Road Ahead Hot topic and learn more on this insightful this recent article in Exhibit City News by Mark Hebert "With rising costs and new trade policies looming, businesses in the tradeshow industry are bracing for potential financial impacts. On Tuesday, February 18, the?EDPA Las Vegas Chapter?hosted?Tariff Talk, a virtual discussion examining how tariffs affect exhibits and live events. The conversation featured Kevin Carty, EVP at?Classic Exhibits, and Rob Cohen??Display Supply & Lighting, Inc. & Lighting, who provided insights into past, present, and future trade policies—and what businesses can do to prepare." ?“You need to protect yourself against potential increases that could arise after the date of quotation to the date of delivery,” Rob Cohen Kevin Carty, EVP at Classic Exhibits Inc. | Exhibits ~ Rentals ~ Environments, added: “We can call tariffs whatever we want, but at the end of the day, they are a tax—and that tax falls on us.” At Genesis Exhibits, our team remains vigilant in monitoring this issue to proactively address any potential impact on our business and clients. https://lnkd.in/eUwFr2g2 Exhibitions and Events Workforce Development Federation BizBash Marlys Arnold Live Events Coalition Events Industry Council Eventex Event Marketer

From our Mr Advocate in Washington Dwayne Thomas ! “Skipping ahead in the chronology of my Hill visit for this post (will catch up on yesterday’s cavalcade later), in order to report on a great and productive listening session between Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and the entire MSA/SBM group of fellow advocates. I was honored to have the task of introducing the Senator to our group. Here were his very first words: “House Republicans made a devil’s bargain last night in passing their broken budget resolution. Each of them soundly voted against their own constituents.” Indeed they did. After the session I connected with the Senator’s Small Business aide, and as the only Oregon advocate in the room, was able to create a new alliance for the Events industry, and small businesses more broadly. Now, back across the way to the House side for my last meeting with Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (D WA-1). After that, I nap HARD.” Thank you!

I am upset about what is happening in my industry. We had three of the best consecutive years in our history. Despite: Global conflicts Absurd inflation Out of control demand Yet too many experienced event professionals are being let go. In favor of AI? (Good luck with that) In favor of cheaper and inexperienced workforce? (Good luck with that too) So here is my message. Hire a planner. I posted about this before and I’ll keep on doing it. If you are hiring for operations, project management, customer success, HIRE FROM THE EVENT INDUSTRY. These are people who don’t flinch under pressure that would make most of us crumble. Dedicated, hard working, projected towards others. Hire from the event industry.

Creative, engaging, event content made easy! Meaningful interactions – connecting people and sharing ideas! I had the pleasure to meet Tamsin Treasure-Jones of Kubify the other day and learn more about her wonderful platform that can be helpful to event and conference management to connect content, conversation and community. She helped me set up my own "stack" page as a member of ?? Meetings & Events Support Association (MESA) and I need to thank Sandie McCoubrey for the introduction. https://ltb.io/eposters/ Kubify serves as a versatile platform, primarily catering to ePosters at conferences, engaging customers such as conference organizing companies and scientific associations. Interestingly, educational institutions are increasingly adopting Kubify to enhance student learning. In the upcoming months, individuals will have the option to acquire personal licenses, expanding the platform's reach. Furthermore, Kubify holds the potential to assist trade shows and exhibitors in presenting and sharing exhibitor information with visitors. Beyond its primary functions, Kubify excels as a tool for events, conferences, education, and training. It not only facilitates learning but also provides a networking opportunity for attendees to showcase their offerings at these gatherings. CES 2025: Tech Trade Show Expands Into New Sectors,?Increases Attendance "With the help of 4,500 exhibitors—1,400 of which were startups—in front of 141,000 attendees, the 2025?Consumer Electronics Show lived up to its reputation as one of the world’s leading tech events by underscoring AI's intersection with humanity, highlighting accessibility-focused tech, and debuting energy transition and quantum computing conference tracks. Attendance figures at CES 2025 marked a roughly 2% yearly increase compared to the previous year, when CES 2024 drew 138,000 participants."? Thank you to Shannon Thaler for your review on CES in your article in TSNN - Trade Show News Network! Highlights: Delta keynote at The Sphere? Mobility Accessibility goes mainstream- this one is important news! "Despite the complex nature of these new technologies, much of CES’s programming sought to showcase their practical applications. This rang especially true throughout its accessibility track which, as?Forbes?put it, took accessibility “mainstream,” citing 2023 data from DisabilityTech that valued the market at a whopping $25 billion."? "On the show floor, accessible tech included an array of smart glasses, such as ones from Nuance Audio with built-in hearing aids, plus a line of high-tech glasses—and sunglasses—from Meta’s partnership with Ray-Ban, allowing vision-impaired users to receive real-time visual aids." https://lnkd.in/eQtjj9HC Meg Strahle Exhibitions and Events Workforce Development Federation Genesis Exhibits Disability:IN Rosemarie Rossetti, PhD Apprupo Events Industry Council Live Events Coalition Julie Kagy, CEM Chris Griffin
