The Liu Shiming Art Foundation recently hosted MFA Sculpture students and faculties from @marylandinstitutecollegeofart for an immersive educational tour in NYC. ??? In this short video, you’ll catch glimpses of insightful reflections from both MICA students and Liu Shiming scholars as they delved into the life and art of Liu Shiming. Led by our Curatorial Director and Executive Director, the tour offered an in-depth exploration of the gallery’s sculptures, sparking discussions on the evolving role of sculpture and how Liu’s work bridges tradition and modernity. This visit marked the beginning of their three-day research trip in New York, where students not only expanded their horizons by visiting art in the city but also gained a deeper appreciation for the Foundation’s global mission. We are excited to continue building enriching educational partnerships that foster cross-cultural dialogue ??

It was a pleasure to host MFA Sculpture students from MICA at our gallery yesterday, where they delved into Liu Shiming's life, artistic practice, and the Foundation's global initiatives. Thought-provoking discussions on sculpture as an expansive and diverse discipline led to new ideas and potential program concepts. We look forward to continuing these enriching educational collaborations with our partner institutions.

?? It was a successful launch of Liu Shiming: Life, Death & In-between, an extraordinary exhibition presented in collaboration with UNL Art, Art History & Design and EHGallery. Showcasing over 60 sculptures and drawings by Liu Shiming, this exhibition delves deeply into the artist’s work, offering a powerful reflection on individual life and the human experience. ??? The opening reception featured a panel discussion with distinguished guests: UNL’s Sculpture Professor Santiago Cal , Painting Professor Aaron Holz, and Rutgers University’s Curator and Gallery Director Richard Siggilino. Each panelist provided invaluable perspectives on Liu Shiming’s contributions to the field of sculpture, with the conversation guided by our Curatorial Director Fran Kaufman. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery for hosting the exhibition in such a beautiful setting and to curator and Gallery Director Julia Leggent , whose curatorial expertise brought this powerful exhibition to fruition. We are also deeply grateful to the UNL students and faculty for their enthusiastic participation, making this event truly memorable. The exhibition will remain open to the public through September 26. We warmly invite everyone to experience this extraordinary collection firsthand.
