This time of year, we discuss Thanksgiving and all that it means. Here’s what our students shared about the day. “It is like a family reunion to say thank you for the food,” and, “it is sharing time to stop and appreciate the blessings in life.” “Thanksgiving is lots of food- eating, eating, and more eating.” Turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie are all on the menu. Of course, it’s also the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and a time of reflection. We provide students with digital literacy skills training, links to free or reduced cost internet access, and technology resources (including computers) so our students can participate in adult education classes and be competitive in a job market that seeks employees with basic technology skills. It’s Native American Heritage Month! From U.S. Poet Laureates to National Medal of Arts recipients, Native American authors tell stories that sweep across our present, dig into the past, and span the continent. From the reservations in the southwest and great plains to New York City, these voices originate from multiple tribes and people who write mysteries, romance novels, literature and creative non-fiction that we love to read.
