Liston Abramson LLP partner Catherine A. Christian was interviewed today on MSNBC and Sky News regarding Judge Merchan’s decision to delay former President Trump’s sentencing for falsification of business records related to hush money payments until after the 2024 election. MSNBC also interviewed Catherine today regarding oral arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in Manhattan about whether the Court should overturn a $5 million jury verdict finding former President Trump liable for sexually assaulting and defaming the writer E. Jean Carroll. Yesterday, MSNBC interviewed Catherine regarding Hunter Biden’s surprise guilty plea in his tax evasion case and recent developments in the federal election interference case against former President Trump. Catherine, a legal analyst at NBC News and MSNBC, has also recently been interviewed regarding other cases involving former President Trump, including the federal criminal case pertaining to classified documents and the Supreme Court’s ruling related to his claim of immunity from criminal prosecution. As stated by Rep. Johnson of Georgia, ranking member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet: ? "Because it is difficult for infringed parties to overcome the financial hurdles just to get to the courtroom, outside, non-recourse funding has become a tool to allow some of these cases to move forward.?In 2022, for example, inventor Michael Kaufman won a judgment for Microsoft's infringement on his patent.?For five years, he knew the infringement was occurring, but he was unable to cover the significant cost of pursuing the company in court, until he received funding from Woodsford [Litigation Funding] . . . in reality, these cases are more like David and Goliath, and many large corporations would like to keep it that way."??
