BIG IDEAS and changes coming to our servicemember-focused Career Binders. ?? We are of the opinion that preparation for a successful #transition out of active duty happens at the *beginning* of military service, not just 1-2 years before ETS. Developing habits of service detail tracking, verifying, and organizing throughout their military career is the best way to help #transitioningveterans when their time comes. Retroactive and reactive record gathering should be changed. Thoughts? #veterantransition #veteransupport #veterans

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures out there. We couldn't do life without you! ??
List & File? Founder | Military Spouse | Improving US servicemember and family readiness & resilience through organization.
Every year I become more & more grateful for fathers who just do. Like my dad. I'm sure it wasn't EVERY time, but I never remember having to beg his attention away from his work, computer, etc. to talk to me or answer a question. He just did. I never had to ask more than once for him to help me study for tests at school. He just did (and we always stayed up way too late making jokes and laughing instead). I never felt like I had to earn his love. He just loved me because I was his, and was always proud of me (...except maybe in high school when I went out of town to a basketball game when I was originally told no, or when I drove a friend's car without a license and STALLED IT as my mom drove up the road behind us. An auto transmission. I have a very specific set of skills...) Or like my husband. He doesn't suggest that the dishes should be done or the kids need to be put to bed - he just does it. He doesn't only think about doing little acts of service, like ordering a stash of KitKats to get me through hard week or taking the kids outside after he's had a long day at work so I can have some quiet. He just does. Or on Father's Day, the day of all days he deserves to relax and be waited on, HE'S been making the family's food, giving kids baths, doing dishes, cleaning up, and more, while I'm mostly useless, lying in bed with late pregnancy ailments. ???? He doesn't complain or mutter what he would rather be doing. He just does what needs to be done as a husband, partner, and father. Boy oh boy am I grateful for him, and for my dad, and for all the good men who helped shape them. And I'm grateful that these men are now helping shape my sweet sons into responsible, selfless doers of good things. Happy Father's Day ??

If you are transitioning out of the military in the next 6-12 months and have not done anything yet to prepare for your transition, here are my must haves check list (in no particular order, it's just in my GET.IT.DONE. order): - Get a copy of your medical record and start going through your ailments from head to toe, and make follow up appointments for issues that have not been addressed in a while. This will help get you ready for your VA claim when submitted for service connected medical conditions. - Get a copy of your service record and make sure nothing is missing like medals, service schools, college transcripts, certifications, qualification designators, etc. If anything is missing, you need to address it ASAP and keep copies of everything you submit to your branch of service. - Get a memo from your security officer stating when your clearance was last adjudicated because many of you will forget once you transition out of the military. - Start looking at civilian job descriptions of roles you think you would like to seek out next and see what certifications (if any) are required to do those roles so you can TRY to get the Navy, Army, Air Force, etc. COOL programs to pay for them before you get out. There's a lot more to cover but I don't want to overwhelm you; this list will be plenty to keep you busy. If you are already a month (or less) out from getting out of the military and have not done any of this; you're going to be in a world of hurt and will struggle with your transition. Get ahead of the game - NO EXCUSES! OWN your transition. You have a Veteran network you can leverage on this platform so you don't have to transition alone; it's okay to ask for help. Those of us who have been there, done that, want to see you succeed, so get a mentor (Veterati is a good start) and start growing your network. Maloney out! ? #militarytransition #transitioningservicemembers

"Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently if you went back into the military?" - "Document everything." - "Stayed in and kept better copies/track of all records." - "Document all my injuries." - "Keep up with all my medical records." - "hmmmm...SO many things. Just a few...Ensured my contract said what I wanted and not be swayed. Do my 20...document everything..." - "Ensure you get a complete copy of medical records BEFORE you get out..." - "Get copies of your entire: 1. Medical records 2.?Dental records 3. Personnel file Once you leave active duty it can take 4 months or longer to get copies of the above items. And, you might find some things may be missing or incomplete. Do not risk it!!!" ? Actual responses from veterans of all branches. It's pretty clear - thorough and consistent documentation of military records WHILE IN THE SERVICE is crucial to a successful experience while in and after transitioning out. We have big dreams for our Career Binder - The first-ever standardized (but customizable) solution to personal military record keeping. ?? https://lnkd.in/gBhi4YDH Looking to put a Career Binder in the hands of every U.S. servicemember at the beginning of their service. #dreambig #Army #AirForce #CoastGuard #Navy #Marines #SpaceForce #militarysupport #militaryservice #militaryfamilies #entrepreneurship
