关于我们
We are LISC — the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. It may be a mouthful, but our name does, in fact, say it all. Simply put, we support local initiatives in primarily low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. We are a national organization with a grassroots focus. LISC has offices in 35 cities and works in hundreds of rural communities across the country. Our collective goal is to create socially and economically vibrant and sustainable neighborhoods, with living wage jobs, local businesses, good schools, quality housing, reliable transportation and needed amenities. With residents and partners, we forge great places to live, work, visit, do business and raise families across Chicagoland.

Meet Dextrianna Magee (Dex), a rural Mississippi native who recently earned an MBA from William Carey University. She was working three jobs to make ends meet when she discovered RCLF in Gulfport, MS, a #CDFI that helps people become successful homeowners and entrepreneurs. Thanks to the LISC AmeriCorps – Economic Mobility program supported by Citi Foundation, Magee now works at RCLF as an outreach representative, who spends her time in the community promoting the organization’s services and resources. Last fall she attended the Opportunity Finance Network Conference in Los Angeles, where she got to network with people from CDFIs across the country. “They just opened my eyes to a lot of opportunity out there that I just was not aware of,” she said. Magee plans to continue working in the CDFI industry when her AmeriCorps term ends this April. Hear Magee talk about what inspired her to join AmeriCorps and the most important thing she’s learned from her time with RCLF. Rural LISC

It’s amazing to announce that Project H.O.O.D. has successfully closed out financing for our $45 million, 90,000-square-foot Leadership & Economic Opportunity Center! We also secured $40+ million in New Market Tax Credits—a huge win for our mission and the community. This achievement would not have been possible without the tireless work of Dez Marshall and Brian Lamar Alexander, J.D. If you are a business or organization looking for top-tier consultants who can get you across the finish line, look no further—these are the two men who can make it happen! Their expertise, persistence, and ability to navigate complex deals are unmatched. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this vision a reality. A community-centered economic inclusion agenda just wrapped up in Back of the Yards! This LISC-led initiative is the first of its kind in Chicago and identified three key areas for growth: the Ashland Hotel, the Rainbow Building, and the 47th Yards Plaza. Participants in the process—including LISC staff, the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council, city officials, nonprofits, community members, and residents—honored the community’s identity and history to shape their vision for the future.
