Finding Sanctuary by Lisa Kahn Designs

What is the true power of good design? Can thoughtfully crafted spaces help us become better versions of ourselves? As designers, do we have the ability to inspire growth and foster connection within our communities? These are the important questions I often reflect on when considering the impact my work has on the world. It’s a topic I had the privilege of discussing on a panel at this year’s Future of Design Expo at High Point Market Speaking opportunities like this allow me to share with others in our industry the deeper purpose behind what we do. Good design goes beyond creating beautiful spaces; it’s about designing with the end user in mind and considering the many ways we can craft a sanctuary tailored to their unique needs. By doing so, we create environments that support the essential daily practices of rest and relaxation, enabling us to nurture the best versions of ourselves. Where to even begin…. Over the past few weeks the team at Finding Sanctuary by Lisa Kahn Designs, and in particular our fabulous Hannah Isabella Gatof, helped prepare for what wound up being one of the most touching fundraiser events of the season. By bringing their eye for all things beautiful, the team was able to create a stunning stage design that served as the backdrop for a very meaningful evening full of conversations about the importance of rehabilitation and second chances for people who struggle with mental health crises or addiction. We are so proud to have been able to contribute to such an event and are continually impressed by the David Lawrence Centers commitment to the work they do. The evening was particularly special because of Lisa’s personal connection to the DLC. By sharing her story at the Sound Minds event, Lisa hopes to inspire others to rethink how they view mental health. Presenting alongside people like Brooke Shields and Amy Quinn, we are so proud at the contributions our small but mighty team can make in our own community. A huge thank you to Kravet for making this gorgeous set possible! The fabric for custom chairs and accessories from your local showroom helped bring it all together. Another big big thank you to the ladies at Shaw Chambers Design and STARK Carpet who so kindly loaned us some beautiful rugs for our stage.
