Continuing to highlight notable architects in the Hispanic Community this month we'd like to highlight Tatiana Bilbao. Tatiana Bilbao Spamer is a Mexican architect whose works often merged geometry with nature. Her practice focuses on sustainable design and social housing. She founded Tatiana Bilbao ESTUDIO in 2004 and has completed projects in China, France, the United States, Mexico, and Guatemala, among others. Representative projects include the Botanical Garden of Culiacán, Sinaloa and the exhibition hall of a park located in Jinhua, China. Swipe to see images of these notable projects.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time to educate ourselves and others about the importance of early detection and treatment. By recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we can support those affected by this disease and promote regular screenings for early diagnosis. Let's come together to spread awareness and encourage everyone to prioritize their health.

We had a great time recently attending the 2024 American Association for Justice Fall Conference! This year's conference theme was Designing for Change: How Architects are Transforming the Justice System. We enjoyed the networking opportunities and learned a lot from the keynote speakers who spoke on various topics such as human-centered design, flexible and adaptable spaces, community integration, technology integration, and restorative and healing environments. We also got to attend a tour of the amazing Johnson County Youth & Family Services Center! We look forward to attending again in the future!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month we are highlighting noteworthy architects and engineers from this community. We'd like to highlight Luis Barragán. Luis was a Mexican architect and engineer, known for his use of bright colors. Barragán won the Pritzker Prize, the highest award in architecture, in 1980 and his personal home, the Luis Barragán House and Studio, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. His notable projects include the Fuente de los Amantes, Casa Gilardi, San Cristóbal Estates, and the Torres de Satélite.

Thank you to the We Can Do It Together event for having Tenley Lubarsky and Amber Whitmer at their event at the Aerospace Museum of California yesterday. We are grateful we had the opportunity to inspire and encourage the nearly 2,000 middle school and high school girls from San Juan Unified School District and Twin Rivers Unified School District to pursue STEM/STEAM education and careers.
